Re: Count Down Till' 2011 Race Season
Brian... I have to advise you that even a little fluid CAN drip out of your belly ban and affect/effect your bike.
I had my tank vent routed to my belly pan, everytime I would go into 3 the fuel would slosh out of the vent tube run down into the belly pan and them spray my rear tire as I tipped into 3 and got on the power causing my rear to kick out and almost lowside.
After catching myself from almost lowsiding 3 times I finally pitted in and tracked it down, routed the tube to a proper catch bottle and had no further issues.
My point is that is might not "evaporate".
Also I have to side with Kurlon. Just because you pass tech does not mean you are following the rules. My advice is to follow the rules EXACTLY as written in the rulebook, not how people are getting away with stuff. Then you will never be wrong.

I think he'd prefer we do this at a table, with flowers in a nice arrangement, soft music in the background?

Re: Count Down Till' 2011 Race Season
oh my god you people are retarded. first off go read the rule book again, second understand your bike. The coolant overflow bottle that came on your bike IS your coolant catch can. the fuel vent tube comes from the tank not from the engine, the rule book says engine. you're fine routing that hose to your belly pan.

Re: Count Down Till' 2011 Race Season
Thanks for all the input on the matter. So I guess we can get this thread back to it's original purpose... counting down the days.

The rules do not specify that the catch can must be enclosed. The rules do however suggest that if you are not using some sort of containment (belly pan, catch can or otherwise), the lines must be run into a sealed air box which would prevent the fluids making it to the racing surface in the absence of dedicated fluid containment.
It's all about interpretation, IMO.
+1.
Brian, the R6 vent lines for the fuel tank, already routed down to the bellypan, are fine.
I asked about this before I started racing in post #15 and got the same answer from Pete... and obviously I've never had an issue with it.

Re: Count Down Till' 2011 Race Season
Last night I came to the painful conclusion that I can not afford to race the Ducati this year. I will still be involved in things and will regularly be at the track, but racing will have to wait a year.
I will most likely be racing the TTR in the NEMM series.
