    Safety Wiring Saturday 8/22

I am going to be safety wiring my bike tomorrow (Joel may be joining as well).

I should have pretty much all the supplies anyone might need. (wire, tapmagic, sw pliers, several drills, and also I am planning on picking the mini drill press attachment for my dremel and using that on low speed in conjunction with a small machinist's vice).

I was wondering if anyone else needed to do this, hopefully someone with a bit of experience to give a hand/pointers. Or even if you don't need to do it, come by and I'll buy your lunch and stuff.

It'll be happening at my garage in Wayland, MA.

Tonight I'll be grabbing the rest of the supplies (small machinist's vice, a bunch of metric nuts to secure bolts in the vice, the dremel drill press attachment, center punch, a bunch of bits, etc). Let me know if there's anything I'm missing.

PM me or call my cell if you could help. 5 oh eight - eight 6 8 - oh 4 oh four

Thanks Chris I'll let you know if I decide to do that. I'd prefer to do it at my place in Wayland but if no one else is gonna meet up and I get nervous about doing it I might take you up on that.

Do you have to do your banjo bolts? I'd be really fucking nervous doing those because they're mostly hollow.

the head of the bolt isn't hollow, is it?
I've wired them in the past (carefully), but it's not necessary.

You're right the head isn't usually hollow... just in general they are fragile and I've had them shear on me... drilling into them would just make me a bit nervous.

There's some beers and lunch for you if you get bored tomorrow and happen to ride through Wayland...

I'm thinking I'll for a little rip afterwards too

A little bit of grease or oil helps to cool down the bit when drilling. Take it slow and easy, it's not fun trying to drill out broken drill bits.

Chris your a pro at installing bodywork right? I'm getting my armour bodies probably next week

I got all the supplies I was missing and now have a full safety wiring setup... I ended up not doing it though. Attendees bailed on me and I have all winter to do it so no rush. I decided to build my workbench since that keeps getting procrastinated on.

And yeah the armour bodies is nice and pretty easy to install. I had help with mine which was nice... it's not too bad of a job though. You have the Dzus fasteners already? Have a holesaw for your frame sliders?

If you need things I have most shit. Or you could bring the bike by and I could help you do it all if you wanted.

Hey Mike... I don't think I was ever planning on doing this Friday's penguin... my plan was always to try to do the friday penguin on september 26th... that's still my plan if I can scrape together the money and time

Why, you gonna do it too?
