I got to the track about 1:30pm on Friday afternoon to set up camp. Unloaded all my crap and set up the EZ-up (thanks for the help Heath) before heading down to sign up for practice. I had slacked all week and didn't do much to prep the bike other than the usual oil change and chain lube stuff, and safety wire a few things. I didn't bother pulling off the signals and lights, just taped them up and off I went, though I did have another front number plate that replaced the headlight.

At first, I didn't think I could switch classes so I went out in AM/EX little bikes which was a little scary being my first time on the track this year, and first time with this bike on the track. I had no idea how it would handle with the woods suspension and the 2 year old, half worn pilot powers so I took it real easy
I did have fun, but I didn't belong out in that group.

Next session I went out in novice and felt much better. I didn't make any changes to the bike, it actually felt great other than the front brake fade. After 3 or 4 laps, my front brake was poop by the time I hit turn 3, I guess if I do this again, I will need a vented front rotor.
I had a little fun with KB out there, followed him for a few laps and made the pass on the front straight Cool stuff.

Overall, I was happy with the bike considdering what it is. I figgured it would be wallowing all over the place with the woods suspension being all mushy and soft, but it felt pretty damned good at my pace anyways
It did feel a bit underpowered (maybe over geared?) compared to the YZ450 I used to race, I never even got into 6th gear?

As expected, at exactly 6:01pm, a beer had been opened Nothing like a nice blueberry beer and a couple burgers to set the mood for the evening. That Bob, he's OK, I don't care what anyone says about him. Cooked the burgers and breakfast the next morning... and gave me my own room in his camper Thanks Bob

Wouldn't you know it, as soon as we got up and went to sign up for corner working that day, it started to rain. It was just a passing shower.... that ended up passing about 6 hours later.
I worked turn 1 as a flagger for practice, I like that station as you get a good shot of the racing action. Paul D, don't stop at the pit out cones anymore, they didn't like that to much
It rained the whole time I was there, good thing I brought my riding rain gear but I still got wet. Water was running down the headset to the radio I had clipped inside the raingear, and my feet were soaked. Bob laughed at me because he thought I chose the only station with no EZ-up to stand under... boohoo.
I was going to work the afternoon as well but I was cold and wet so i didn't bother. I ended up watching a lot more racing than I usually do, it was great to see everyone out there in the changing conditions and having fun. Hell, it was even good to see Nikon show up, I learned he's making a lot of new friends
We even went out to eat with Nikon and family that evening

Sunday morning it was foggy and damp, I had my mind set on packing up and going home. As I started to organize my stuff, the sun started to come out and it warmed up pretty quick, what the hell, I'm going for a little ride. I put a gallon of gas in the KTM and I was off to visit Jay and big Shirl Stoner. Good to see you'z and the house is looking awesome, lot's of hard work and it looks to be paying off. Nice job

I got back to the track just in time for the sky to open up, great!! I had a quick lunch with Bob at the Checkered Flag and I was off to load up after that. After I got everything loaded, wouldn't you know it, the sun came out!! I stuck around to watch race 1 and 2 and then left for home.

Big thanks to Bob M for the room for the weekend, and clayton for some Blueberry beers
Lots of laughs and a good overall weekend hanging with everyone.
I might be up next weekend, still not sure
