Im up too early, and kind of bored, and fairly excited bout this weekend, so Ill do up a race report
I should note that I was exhausted on sunday, so I know I told the same people the same stories at least 4 times each, so I appreciate just smiling and nodding and not calling me an idiot.
On the social scene, the Alley was fairly empty so that was kind of sad. Mr Wookie's gone, Mr. HD took the weekend off, so it was up to Bergs, Erik, Dan, and myself to hold things down. Unfortunatly Bergs crashed, so his weekend ended too early, and Dan had to play the Man God role, so on sunday it was up to the kid and myself to hold things down, and I think we did well.
Anyway, onto the all about me news
It was a successful, fun, and weird weekend. So much stuff I'd never done before.
Saturday practice, dropped my personal best down to 1:26.7 so thats kind of fun. I still dont know what I do differently to fluctuate between 1:26s and 1:28s so thats really starting to frustrate me.
Saturday race #2 GTL. On the first start get blown off the line of course, keep up with a pack then settle in behind 2 SVs. Of course they'd motor me on the straight, and then hold me up in the corners, but not enough to let me get around them. I got one of the guys in 3 on the brakes, then the straight comes around and by me he goes. Red flag comes out. On the restart I learn its entirely possible to wheelie an EX500, then on lap 1 I spin the wheel coming out of 12. I've never spun a wheel that bad before, but somehow make it up with a bit of a pucker moment. That wall moves close real fast. Anyway, that threw me, so I cruise around and finish not-last, so thats fine.
Race #5 LWSM Nothing too exciting. The AM field only has 5 bikes, 2 tards and 3 EXs. I manage to keep ahead of the EXs and the tards are of course GONE. So I take 3rd. Look at the results and apparently with 5 bikes they give 3 trophys, so I got my first non-PTwins wood as an AM, and its these fancy dealies so I'm pretty happy. The most exciting part of the race other than the result was on the second to last lap an expert tard tries to take me on the inside of 9 and hits my clipon. Never had any sort of contact before so that sketched me a bit. Checked my brake lever, it was still there, but it got in my head and of course made me a bit nervous. Thank god it was then the white flag so I made it around once more without problems.
Sunday practice: Nothing exciting
Sunday Race #3 PTwins. This is it, my feature race, and probably the craziest most fun race I've had. On the grid are Darrell, Branden, myself and Sean. Sean ran 24s his first weekend as an AM, so hes a fast bastard, and both Darrell and Branden are getting right up on my ass, so I figure we're gonna have some fun. On the start, I get out up front, but sean gets around me on the outside in 1, in 6 he goes wide and ends up in the dirt, I see him stay up, but know he's going to have to get through darrell and Branden to get to me, so I'm pumped. What comes next, you guessed it, red flag FUCK. On the restart I get the holeshot and keep everyone behind me, but I know the 3 of them are right there. Keep in first for a couple laps, get some experts starting to lap us, going into 3 Alex takes me on the inside, but goes a little deeper than he wanted and KILLS my drive in 3, I know Seans right behind me, so I was about ready to kill Alex at that point (turns out after he probably held up Sean as much as he did me, so its all good bud!). Sean pulls up to my right over the hill (Kid gets a KILLER drive out of 3) I just think to myself, I'm not braking until he does, so either I'm keeping first or we're both meeting the turn 6 corner workers. Well, forget seeing God THAN braking, I had the time to have a nice conversation with Him before Sean finally brakes and I grab a handful, fortunatly I had the inside line so I held him off and held first. Another couple laps later, same thing, he gets beside me on the hill I wait for him to brake, then hold the line, so I still held first. On the last lap, going into 12 a 125 decides he wants to try to get me on the inside and tries to stuff it in there, Im forced a bit wide, killing a good bit of my drive, if this little fucker cost me my first win I would've probably killed him, but I wasnt about to back down, once again, it was either we both finish or we're meeting some cornerworkers. Manage to make it through, I'm hoping Sean was close enough to get slowed down too, start dragging down the straight, a bike comes up on my left, FUCK, fortunatly I take a peek over and its only the 125, so I drag him, beat him by .02 seconds, and take my first ever win as an AM, and only my second win EVER. So fucking pumped. I've finished second 3 times to 3 different riders, but finally I get one.
Race #9 ULSB. Well, my extended practice, I cant even keep people in sight for more than 3 laps, so I just use it to get some work in. As it turns out, apparently I was quite useful. I generally try to keep an eye out in viewing spots, over the hill, in the bowl, on the straight, late in the race to make sure I give Geno and Jurgen a little room (Mostly Geno, but I wont say that out loud) I thought I saw them back further, but apparently I saw 3rd and 4th. Anyway, going into 3 Jurgen and Geno both take me in 3, and I see Geno out in front over the hill GO GENO GO! So the race finishes, and Geno stops by the alley, apparently I slowed up Jurgen just enough (and totally NOT on purpose) that Geno was able to slip up the inside, so I'm taking partial credit for the win there!
Also noticed some weird tearing on my tire, so I talked to Sto and he said my suspension needs tweaking, so even though I havent changed anything, and run the same times, I like to think I'm riding the bike harder, and thats why its doing something new
So for those that dont want to read the rest of this shit

DB, turns out even a GS can wheelie. A bit too much clutch drop on Monday put the front about 8" off the ground, I overcorrected and killed the good drive I had. D-oh!
I swung over to the Alley a couple times and it looked abandoned, other than the schwank banner. At one point I popped over and there were no bikes, plus some people I didn't recognize gathered on the left chatting away, the looked at me like I had three heads, and resumed chatting. Now I know why, I was wondering what happened to the roving dick and fart joke patrol this weekend.
Fuckin sick, DB!
