He dropped the price down to $450 and won't go any lower. It'll probably be $50 just to ship them, so it'd actually be $400 for the rims and tires.

At that price you're basically buying the rains at retail price and getting the rims for free.

The rain tread is from at least two years ago, but bridgestone rains kick ass. It's a great deal IMO.

It's all water under the bridge, and we do enter the next round-robin. Am I wrong?

It's actually 10 months ago. Would these sitting around be an issue? The thread says that he took them out for only a single practice session and the tires look to me in like-new condition.

I have been in contact with him and wanted to get some opinions before pulling the trigger.

This is all I needed to hear.

How long are rains good for if they're not used all that often? How do you keep them from drying out and cracking?

As long as they're stored well, not left in the sun to dry out they'll last a good amount of time. When they do dry and get hard they're great for those inbetween days.

I'm fairly certain that tread pattern is from two years ago, it changed last year, maybe the year before. IF they were bought 10 months ago new and still wrapped, and not neglected they're still plenty soft. Either way it's still a deal, if you get them and they're hard they're still better than your other options for the rain, and just what you want for the questionable weather times.

Thanks for the input guys. I just sent the $$$ for the stuff. Should be here by next Friday. Just in time for my 3 days at NHMS, just in case it should decide to rain.

What's the test to see if they're 'hard'? I've got a set of last years Bridgestone rains that I roasted on the last race weekend, and have been using as weights to keep the tarp secured on my GS500 since. Stupid things still feel just as soft as my new for this season rains to my thumbnail, I've been kinda hoping to see them deteriorate/harden up so I can gauge the process but it hasn't been obvious to me yet.

1.) using a durometer, or the feel of experience
    2.) It's a GS

Noel, did you get a set yet? You may want to look into the above post.

Well, Annalisa signed for the rims & tires today and sent some pics along. These will be waiting for me when I get home Friday. (note they still have the molding knobs on them)
