I opted to save $250-500 and rattle can the fairings on the race bike verses having them professionally sprayed. Does anyone know of a decent clearcoat that is relatively durable in a spray can? I tried a can of rustoleum enamel and I wasn't too impressed with it's durability.
Yeah.. I know.. I'm cheap.
Thanks,
Fitz
I've had good luck with Duplicolor.
Yeah i just repainted mine and used Duplicolor so i went with the Duplicolor clear coat too. I really have no clue but i heard it's good to stick with the same brand paints.
Here's a couple pics of how it came out (before/after) the bike is stored in a tight spot and i didn't want to move it so the pics aren't too good but here they are anyway. The new paint is pretty dusty .... i let them sit for two weeks to cure beore iu put them on...so the pics relly don't show the shine but i was happy with how it came out for a dumbass doing a rattle can job

Its also important to make sure that you don't mix types of paint (clear/color).
For example, don't use a urethane enamel and an oil based paint (not sure if I have the types right but get where i'm going?). the different types of paint won't mix and will end up peeling off. etc...
Sweet. I'll heed jcbell's warning and pick up a few cans of duplicolor tomorrow.
The Rustoleum enamel just doesn't seem very resistant to even minor things... say fingerprints.... even after full cure.
Thanks,
