by all means, send an email.
I sent Tom an email with my concerns. Not objection, concerns. He replied back with a informative and curious email. I'd post it because I think it would relax some people but having not ask Tom if I that was ok I don't feel it appropriate. I'm comfortable with their decision based on his reasoning and as I already posted, with pictures, with the fit of my helmet with the Eject system installed.
and, if I'm sliding head first towards anything, that bag will be the least of my worries.
bergs, just in case, I'm not trying to dig on you either.

The EMT's have the slide in type inflation device. Made by the same company I believe. If the film isn't sped up, they used the CO2 cartridge instead of the hand bulb. My biggest problem with the slide in version is obstructions like hair, dew rags, etc. making placement difficult. With the pre-installed unit properly placed in the helmet, this helps mitigate the problem.
For the record, the neck is always immobilized before any type of helmet removal. If you've ever been at a crash scene, you probably noticed two people performing helmet removal. One next to the rider supporting the neck and back of the head. The second at the riders head to spread and remove the helmet. Because of the tight fit, you get some moving and rocking during manual removal as you can see in the video. The inflation device helps to reduce this. Believe it or not, EMT's and firemen are better at this than ER's. They practice and perform helmet removal much more frequently. Further, Speedway Safety Services ( Golden Cross ) specializes in motor racing and has even more experience and training caring for crash victims than your standard EMT or First Response Fireman.
I don't have a dog in this hunt. With that said, I'm probably going to get one for street riding. I'd rather be the 2nd guy if I land on my noggin. Once again, this is strictly my opinion after doing my own research and talking with EMT's and people I trust.

Here's a link to a brief EMS intro video. Still only requires 2 people.

so if someone spent the money on an Arai or shoei with a system that is already in place by the manufacturer, then the EMTs wouldnt use it?
When I start my KTM in the morning, rules are broken. Its inevitable...

just one of the things I notice with this video is it FORCES the EMT to take their time with that hand bulb.. with the ol hand held removal he manipulates it to get it off, twisting back and forth, he also does it in about a 3rd of the time.
not necessarily a bad thing at all, kind of removes the adrenaline factor.

In my x12 I installed it under. I cant see why you would put it over.

Just installed mine on Shoe RF1100. Instructions call for under padding.

had to cut a little slit in the padding of my Suomy also. I wasn't very happy about having to do it either. its not a big deal cause its really just kind of like a lower curtain that lines the bottom of the padding around the helmet.

Just to bump this now that everyone installed and used it....
I did not feel mine except for once when I put my helmet on quickly and I felt the nozzle run down my melon. Once the helmet was on, didn't feel it. Didn't feel it hit my leathers at all either (I have no neck). Using a Bell Star, no helmet modification needed. Actually fits nicely.

It's definitely not in the way but depending on your helmet I know some people had to make undesired modifications... like the crown padding is glued in and they had to rip it out, or cut something, etc.

Friday bump (OK, so the thread isn't that old). Did the Eject system get used on anyone's helmet that's on here?

2 crashes, 2 ruined helmets, 0 times used.
On a separate note, I looked at Jake Vader's helmet after his T1 slide into the air fence. What disturbed me was that the Eject hose was wearing a way at the foam inside the helmet. I was disturbed by this, since it was actually changing the integrity of the helmet.
I'm pretty sure that Lou's did not inflate when they tried to use it to remove his helmet. That is the only attempt to use one that I know of.
