My wife stopped coming to the races with me about midway last year. The reason is because there is little for her to do there and it's a lot of work keeping the kids under control. Now half of the fun for me to go is to be around all my friends that due to my work schedule and other commitments, I don't get to spend a lot of time with. I thought if my wife could feel more like a part of something, like hanging out with other people's wives and kids, she would enjoy herself a lot more.
She is totally into riding, and hasn't put up a stink about me going to the track, but I also want to keep her included in this part of my life. Do any of you guys bring your families with you? My kids are 6, 4 and 2 years old. I pit near turn 11, but could relocate to another area.
Sounds like a blessing in disguise if you ask me. 2-4 & 6 sounds like a handful at a track while one is trying to get ready & mentally prepared.
Once Baseball ends my kids & wife will be there with me, but they are much older (10 & 14) and not a lot of work at all.

NHMS has planned a kids playground, just inside the tunnel to the right by Turn 2.
A few years ago (2005-06) my wife agreed to help try cornerworking at Turn 11/12 Flag station. Needless to say, she was not happy seeing so many bikes crash near her. No interest to ever do that again.
Generally speaking, Road Racing is a selfish sport. A racer that has a spouse along is very fortunate. At a racing facility with motorcycles zipping around the pits and kids near by, it's a tough balance to keep everyone happy/safe.
My son will be 2 in November. We think it is too loud at the track and he will only wear ear muffs for so long. I wish my wife would come to the track more, she has only been twice.

i bring my girlfriend once in a while, everytime she comes she wants constant attention, i go to race and hangout with people who are there, if i want to jump on my scooter and watch races or ride around and talk i dont want to worry if she wants to come or if shes gunna be ok in the trailer, shes interrested in bikes and my racing , but i feel like its a distraction from why i am really there, i understand wife and kids are different but just my 2 cents

Not much different. It is difficult when she isn't the center of attention.
Hell, I hardkly have time to hang out and talk to people that come to my pit.

What to do? What to do? I would ask a expert in this field. Hey Josh Hayes, how do you entertain the wifey at the track?
The one weekend my wife agreed to come to the track with me was great. That was by far one of the best LRRS weekends I've experienced, very relaxing, and she really enjoyed herself too which was awesome.

I bring my girlfriend and dog. She seems to do just fine. I try to spend extra time up there with her but she understands Im up there with my friends. I told her she didnt have to come but she wants to. Im sure having KB and Jersey, and Chad around make it a bit interesting.
i think mine might be at the classic. for that matter, i think i might be at the classic.

My similar dilema ended in divorce, now i bring my girlfriend to the track.... She has her own racing to wory about.
I might bring my boys to the track later in the year but i know they will be a handfull. Unfortunatly racing and family dont mix well.
I just want mine to hold the umbrella and make me a samich when I get back in.
Somewhere there's a joke about what happens when you stuff her into a corner.

Invite them once, if they don't enjoy the situation or can't keep themselves occupied then they may just not like it. If they don't like it then well... you probably don't like shopping.![]()
