I was told that the R6 throttle tube changes the turn from a 1/4 turn to a 1/5th turn on the SV so I picked one up from Noel a while back.
Install certainly seemed simple enough... went right in, had no issues, adjusted my throttle cables & it seems to work great... Full on, full off, snap back, looks good.
Only problem is, the throttle stop is catching. If i roll to the throttle stop gently there's no issues, but if i ham fist it even a little, it sticks.
Is there something I can or need to do to the housing or the throttle cam to prevent this?

I did the R6 swap and hated it. For the street, I'd probably go for it, but for the track, after it stuck on me once...it was off. I finally put the Euro Throttle from Yoyodyne on there. It's pricey, but much nicer and works much better.http://www.yoyodyneti.com/ProductInf...oductid=E80061
Edit: I talked to a couple other SV guys up here who tried it and had it stick at various times as well. This was after the grinding and all. Some had it stick open, some closed. Mine stuck open briefly going into a corner and I almost hit the guy in front of me. Like I said...that was the end for the R6 tube. The only good thing was that I picked up my corner speed in that particular corner, which now gives me a better drive up the hill that follows it haha.
Trim like that site says. Did mine and love it.

I can resist everything but Pete's mom.
Good to know... glad I'm trying it out at a track day & not a race environment first
I rolled full on & full off MULTIPLE multiple times after I got it on there and it feels fine but I'll definitely be keeping close tabs on it. If it doesn't work I'll go back to the stock throttle tube & maybe modify that to have a larger cam.

I went from a stock tube to a SV650 tube on the GS to quicken throttle, worked well. I went from there to a R6 tube, quicker throttle still. My first lowside with it the tube rolled back past the stop. Comparing the tubes, the R6 tube's stop isn't as tall, which stink's cause it was about the perfect turn rate on the GS. In the future I think I'll just get an R6 throttle housing so I know I'll have a safe setup.
You can also do the zip tie mod

I've swapped the EX250 to an R6 throttle tube, and aside from my throttle cables now being a hair short, I've been pretty happy. It is a little fussy in installation, at least on the EX250; I suspect it's the lack of extra length in the cables, but it took me a few tries to get it lined up just right so the cable wouldn't bind and prevent the throttle from snapping shut. It never bound enough to prevent me from shutting it, but I figured tech wasn't going to like it much if I had cruise control going on.

Hmmm... I've been riding with an R6 tube on my SV all season. No issues, no sticking...![]()

Will do, Denno.
Th R6 tube worked pretty well at NJMP the last couple of days... assuming it stays like that I'll leave it as is.

BTW, thanks guys for the heads-up about the possibility of binding. I've only had my SV on the track 3 track days since I did the mod over the winter, but it will be in the back of my mind now.
