Ok I just want to let it be known that I stink at fixing fibreglass! If as if crashing didn't suck enough then fixing the carnage is really not fun (or cheap) either!
Now this is the first time doing fibreglass for me so the learning curve is pretty steep right now. If any of you "experienced" body guys want to give me some advice it would be greatly appreciated (I know the first one...stop crashing).
I now believe my race bike officially qualifies for the "Ugly Duc" race team!

Step one--take it to someone with lots of experience.
I found it cheaper with better results to hand it to an experienced bodyshop guy.
I got damn good at fiberglassing. Damn good. It's the bondo and sanding that I find to be a pain in the ass.
It's all water under the bridge, and we do enter the next round-robin. Am I wrong?
Im by no means an expert but fiberglassing isnt all that hard. The key to it is taking your time. I usually make some nice functional repairs, but as stated above the finish work is the hard part.

Doesn't need to look "show".....just concentrate on the "go".
The less you worry about how the bike looks might help your times. Its a tool, or just a machine.![]()
As far as paint...rattle can will work just fine....again, practice. Although some steps in prep will help finish.
I still love the smell of burnt racing fuel in the morning!
Biting fiberglass is fixed!
Did you grit your teeth and try to look like Clint Fuckin' Eastwood?
Or did you lisp it all hangfisted like a fuckin' flower?

after my first crash this year with my new race body I went to local body supply to get fibreglass tape and epoxy. When I was describing what I needed they recomended another product. Very strong and easy to work with. It's Evercoat Fiber tech and there's a #633 on the tube. So far repaired one side twice and once on the other. Ya I suck!! but I'm gettin good at body and painting.

Hey, if your still having trouble stop by the nestreetriders tent... there's two of us on the end that do our own fiberglass work. Most people are quite impressed. Granted we have really good material at our disposal, we still can offer you some help. Look for my Suzuki... can't miss it... see my avatar and a the white/black/yellow Duc. Names: kevin.
Yes. And it shows you put more emphasis on the "go" rather than the "show"........Originally posted by hessogood
