so i'm looking at the rule book ... i have the parts safety wired that I would not want to fall out.
It mentions header bolts, but the RR doesn't have bolts per say, its a large nut that goes on a bolt stcking out of the engine. Not really possible to saftey wire that I can see ... any thoughts?
for those of you that have done through tech, what should I made sure is wired so that I have no issues?

drill and wire the nuts on the two outside headers. mark them, take them off then drill them and put 'em back on.
The rulebook is on the lrrs website for what you need wired.
It's all water under the bridge, and we do enter the next round-robin. Am I wrong?
Wrap the wire around your threaded post to capture the nut. Loop one post to the other; do both outside header posts/nuts.
Axle capture, caliper mount bolts, muffler bracket, pipe-clamp and safety wire your oil filter; safety wire your rad cap. Mid pipe to slip on if it uses springs.

Personally, I never checked those at tech.
It seems kind of silly.
If one of the nuts came off... what is going to happen that is going to cause a safety concern to you or anyone else on the track?

I don't necessarily think that would actually happen, I just really wanted to write that.![]()
who knows ... i just want to pass tech so I have no stress when I'm up there

And here I was about to send you a link to a sweet (read: cheap) RV that I thought CBR should purchase. I'm not sure I even want you sleeping in the same infield as me after that comment, much less the same structure. You can pitch your tent out in turn 9.Originally posted by OreoGaborio

Don't forget the coolant drain plug, if you have one.

not so much safety, but rather noisy---if your exhaust bolts loosen + header leaks it could cause an annoyingly loud exhaust! + who wants to listen to that!Originally posted by 35racer

actually, what happens is that large sections of exhaust flap around and fall off your bike onto the track causing a hazard to the riders behind you. Been there, hit that.
Keeping your bike well maintained for racing involves a lot of checking for loose bolts. Race conditions (revs) just backs bolts out like nothing.
If one of my nuts comes off I think the resulting riding I do will definately be a safety concern to others.Originally posted by 35racer
