    I give you..ghetto slider

In my desperation to replace a busted slider by Wednesday's track day, I crafted this ghetto slider from parts at the big orange store (um Home Depot)

It is essentially 3/8 - 1/2 galvinized coupler, 1/2"x3" threaded pipe, 1/2" cap, 3/8-16 threaded rod, washers and nuts.

Not sure how it will work but I hate going on the track without sliders, maybe I should safety wire it. Anyone do something similar or have an opinion? Just curious.

Hmmm...that's my fear. I thought it would just grind if it touched. I can thread plastic in instead. Or just take the damn things off and take my chances..

Plastics?? People race with plastics.. Nothing but hard parts if no slidey...

j/k point taken, it does have some give due to the threaded rod but I know what your saying..

Yeah, I'd be afraid that those sliders would be too tough. Something's going to break and I'd be worried about the frame. Grab some delrin ones and start with those. Or put your unmolested slider on the side that you are going to crash on.

I don't know if they would come out past my case, the ones I have were about 4.5" long. How long are they about?

I can maybe get some delrin from work tomorrow or check local shop for something.
