I plan to get a new pair of boots this winter for track days. Anyone have any advice ? Either a good, or what to avoid ? I have been looking at the ones on www.newenough.com and they have some SIDI and Alpinestar booths that look pretty good for around $250. There are a number of SIDI models for around the same cost...can anyone comment on any of the models?
I this might be a pain, but try on a set and see what fits you, then go to E-bay. I bought a new pair of $220 Sidi for $80 shipped to my door last year. Also bougt new $500 Arai helmet for $150 shipped to my door on E-bay. You have all winter to get a good deal.
I forgot to add. The cheaper the boot the less protection you get with the boot from what I have seem.![]()
The SIDI and Alpinestars fit totally different. I can't wear the SIDI because the area just above my toes is waaaayyy to narrow..
You can order both from New Enough and return the one you don't want. They are good like that, I think it will only cost you a couple of bucks shipping..
BTW I need your address.

well i ain't no racer, but i love my A*s SMX Plus boots... got em from Brockton Cycles & paid retail ...... but i'm not too upset cuz i got em right there & then when i needed em & i'm PLENTY happy w/ em.... worth the money... but if you can save a few bucks, do it.
do what Kip said... try some on. The ones i got were BY FAR the most comfortable ones that i tried on, which is why i bought em.
also gave me a good feeling when i went to a Race Day & saw alot of racers wearing em... kinda says something about the quailty if those guys were picking them up

I haven't tried the spensive boots yet. But I got a coupla pairs of the cheapie Teknics that New Enough sells. I'm not overly confident with 'em during track days, but one pair has been through a nasty +/- 50 MPH street crash and held up suprisingly well. And they're pretty comfy off the bike, if needed (Cheryl likes me to wear 'em in the sack). Next time I shop for boots, I'm gettin' a bit higher up the food chain...
Did you grit your teeth and try to look like Clint Fuckin' Eastwood?
Or did you lisp it all hangfisted like a fuckin' flower?

I also have found this to be true.......Sidi seem to fit better around the leg and ankle, but when it comes to to foot area and to box, they are too tight. I swear, maybe because of European sizing, that men in Europe must have feet like women!..![]()
Even the Alpinestars need some break-in time...I have the GPS for the street(broke in nicely, enough for a heavy sock), and the SMX Plus, which may need a little more track time. Have had them(SMX) only for a short while so.....
Take the kinda sox you would normally wear riding when trying on boots to your local vender.....and either support him or wait 'till you see a deal on-line.
I still love the smell of burnt racing fuel in the morning!
for better traction...or just for looks?................Originally posted by Stoneman
