Ok, theres about 17 posts or so it seems, about forming this group and that group, and I think its a cool idea, but maybe I'm missing something. The main theme seems to be one of two things, 1. Share resources, and 2. Have more power in the organization.
As for 1, it seems to me that everyone basically shares what they need as is, whether its a group or not. Everyone always offers a spare if someone needs it, a place to crash if someone needs it, a tool if someone needs it, and most importantly, a beer if someone needs it or not. Is there really a need to get that in depth about it?
And as for 2, what needs to be changed in LRRS that badly that all of us need to kidnap Jerry and Don and force changes? I know theres a few minor things here and there that could be done smoother or better, but maybe Im just missing the whole point.
Or is it just something to talk about in the offseason, cause everyone needs that, including myself.
17 posts already does this make it 18?
Try to force any change and you'll be racing from the comfort of your living room.
It's all water under the bridge, and we do enter the next round-robin. Am I wrong?
You'd only be missing the point if there was a point to be missed.
There are race teams here on NESR already but its more just for a sense of unity & teamwork than anything else. No point in rolling them all up into one "superteam". Although it would be neat to kinda reincarnate NESR Racing.... but it'd only be for the sake of doing it, really.

I thought there was a point, but I was kinda drunk at the time. When I woke up I couldn't remember what the point was. Maybe I need to get drunk again. Yeah, we'll go with that.
I think that if you all got together and designed a good enough plan, you could link up together an form a huge robot that fights crime. That would be cool.
MY reasoning was more the camraderie and all being under one banner to POSSIBLY get sponsorship. I keep using the bowling team analogy when i speak about sponsorship because bowling teams usually have a sponsor...
If I could get Magic Hat to give me 4 cases of beer a weekend that could be cool. If I could get them to pay entry fees that would be better.
We DO help each other BUT.... It might help to pitch in on camp stove fuel, Eggs and Bacon, Maybe a EZ-UP, fire pit.. etc... those other things that are for the good of the group you usually hang out with... Make it a little more "Homie" out in the Paddock as well....

We tried to combine the EX500s once to form CrappyBikeTron. It didn't work very well, I think we needed more duct tape.
Even if it had, I don't think it would have been the kind of robot that fought crime. I'm pretty sure it would have been that kind of robot that taunted children and ogled underage girls. Not that there's anything wrong with that.
I dunno, my wife still has fond memories of my CM200T.
(No good can come from this post.)
Hawkatron would beat Crappybiketron in a fight!

Dans would be the chest... that thing has a stomping motor! Gino's would be the right arm, fast agile and powerful, mine would have to be the left arm, not so fast but solid..., Scotts the right leg, Chris's the left leg, both dependable performers that will kick your ass! Bob's would be the Head with all the smarts and Matt stones would be the lower torso...for the BALLS!
I am thinking WAY to much into this!

while your "sponsor" idea is a good one Doc the "sponsor" in question is going to have 1 very important question. "what are you going to do for us?" you answer? "nothing" because honestly what are you going to do? you could brag that youre gonna win races but who cares. you race at a club level with no advertisement, no real fan base no TV coverage nothing. while you might be able to get some local small shop to give you discounts on anything in the store they wont be working on your bike for free or giving you a bike to race. you could even promise them 5 top 5 finishes over the course of the season but what will you offer them? you will put a magic hat sticker on your bike? these are businesses you are talking about and businesses want to make $$. you have to prove/convince them that by giving YOU something they will increase sales (put more $$ in their pocket)
The Home Depot puts their name on Tony Stewarts car because 1 million people see that car on TV and at the races 250+ times a race. and when you think TS you think THD. even a TS jacket may not say THD on it but its orange. in turn THD makes more $$ because there are stupid people who will only go to THD because they hate Jimmie Johnson (Lowes car) and vise versa.
so again..as is the american way..."what are you gonna do for us?" is the question you must have an impeccable answer for. an answer that will convince them that it is worth it to "spend $$ to make $$"

Thanks for the tip Oxx.
Lets just talk Magic Hat... Yep stickers on the bikes and listing them as a sponsor, maybe the idea of getting into motorsports on a local level appeals to them... (I.e. Budweiser)
Like I have said "Joe's Barber shop" pays for the bowling team T-shirts. What's to say some other business wouldn't give ya a couple hundred to defer race entries or some such.
The local Snap On guy gave Chris Money for tires...
Just thinking out loud...
I am more concerned with the things we CAN affect, like Wood, camp stove fuel, food... if we pitched in and went to the store to get stuff Friday it might help some people out... See what i am saying?
