Scooped up a parts bike (CBR F4) that came with a brandy-new Wiseco piston kit still in the box. They aren't overbored as far as I know so for the sake of argument let's just assume they aren't. Would these pistons be breaking any rules or not allow me to run in my usual MW grids?
Maybe I missed the details but the way I interpret the rules it seems I'd still be okay simply because I'm not increasing CC's or modifying the engine, per-se, rather I'm replacing pistons of the same size but with a non-OEM product.

Whats wrong wit the pistons that are in it?

Usually you can go as far as 1mm over just for maintenance, but check the rules. I'd certainly use the pistons if I got em free. No one's gonna protest you til you win the dash or something. Even then, 1mm over doesn't give any real advantage without lots of other changes.
MWSB you can do whatever you want.
Other classes...? Who is gonna protest you?

As long as they don't push you over the displacement cap, they are certainly Superbike / GP legal. For SuperSport, you're allowed up to a 1mm overbore, and aftermarket pistons AS LONG AS they maintain STOCK compression.

Nothing. I'm trying to figure out if, some day down the road, I could use them or do I now own four new ash trays.
These things are soooooo shiney and brandy new, DC!![]()
I be blingin' y0! :gangsta:
I'm hoping to avoid that but since we're on the subject, wouldn't that potentially cost someone in the neighborhood of $500 for a protest involving a motor tear-down? I seem to recall reading something like that in the 2008 rules.
Trying to stay within the rules so....no.

1mm over is SS rules (same compression)
no holds barred in SB,GP classes as long as youre within CC limitations. IIRC 650cc is the limit.

How are they gonna test/see the difference in overbored pistons? By measuring compression only?

do what you want man....by the time you hit a point where any one would protest it, you'll be on a different bike.
I know its just for the bling factor, not that it'll necessarily make you faster![]()

Shouldn't you be more worried about getting the ENTIRE FRONT END REPLACED from your last crash

I was asking more for the reasoning that if I manage to grenade my motor then would these slugs be a viable and legal replacement. I have an extra mill and will be building it this year and would hate to put all that work into something for naught.
Not looking to make my machine run any faster (I'm after cornerspeed more than anything) only trying to stay within the rules should I burn up a mill.
Shut it rookie.
