So, can i get some insight on the difference of the D209GPA and the N-Tes D211's.....I can see that the N-Tec's are a step up but really don't know if I would see a diff between the two...but would like to hear from some one who has used both....
thanks
what are you running for times?
You'll be perfectly fine with either. The 209's are an Ntech tire... and a lot of people like them and use them to save a few bucks over the 211 with little if any noticeable difference.

I will be a Slow rookie NV pace......06 GSXR 600
Which 209 gpa's? While I'm primarily a Dunlop Slick guy, I remember reading/hearing from the DOT guys in my garage that the 209 gpa's are either US made or UK made ... and that the US made were/are crap, but the UK made were quite good.
So if you're going to run the UK made 209 gpa's you should be good to go.
Not that you can't run good lap times on the US made 209 gpa's, it just may be a heck of a lot more scary and riskier to do so.
Please feel free to correct me on this, but that's my understanding.

by the cheapest dot-race rubber you can find at the track... see the Boston Moto guys about the Conti's (i think they'll be cheaper than bridgestones, not sure though) and save a ton of $$... as a new rookie there is no reason for you to be on the best race rubber for at least the first 1/2 of the season.

I agree with SMF no need to grab the top of the line tire when you your new to racing
save yourself the $$$. Cause your gonna spend it on something for the bike eventually.
Just my opinion
Just like our conversation went... "save yourself the bucks and get a decent used set off somebody". I wouldn't lie to you. I'm clear out of tires, so I can't help you, but I'm sure plenty of people up there will have some * cough... scottgreenwood.
If only I had this advice when I started several years back, I'd probably have enough funding to buy another bike!!!![]()
Hahaha Def Thanks ALL for the Good advice...So i can swing the money scooter by the MotoAddiction Pits and make my Donation for the season...

I got a lot of barely used Michelin Power Race tires if ur interested.
$50 a set (front and rear)
I actually made the switch to Dunlops this year, but ran Michelins for years and liked them.
I agree with said statements above, your rookie year you don't need to buy new rubber. Put money towards setting up your bike and learning to ride the track and get your pace down.

US made 209s felt sketchy to me and got stressful to ride at around the 1:19 mark. I'm sure they can go a lot faster, but that's when they felt nervous and unpredictable for me on a 600. UK 209s were like gold in comparison. The tire guys seemed reluctant to sell those to just anyone. I'm guessing they hold em for the big guns.
To echo what everyone said, take offs of the UK tire would be better than the US tire IMO.
yea its true there's been a long history of the UK made version to be much better. As a rookie you won't be able to tell the difference yet, I agree with the take off idea. I did that for a long time. I actually thanked shane once on the podium as my tire sponsor haha.

You'll be good on a GOOD set of take offs, but if you can swing new sets with your budget do it. Tires won't be a limiting factor for you, whatever you run you'll learn on that feel If you get takeoffs get advice from someone who can read 'em that you know and doesn't have a monetary interest.

True story. We actually had to bleach down Seths side of the garage when he won multiple races the same weekend.

Riding the US made dunlops like you'd ride the UK made ones is crazy talk. I tried it, once. Never again. Like paul said, sub 19's on the US ones is sketchy.....
