Thats definitely a rough day at the track, Best wishes to both families and everyone else down there competing. Be careful out there!
Blame shouldnt be placed without actually knowing anything about what happened. Ive had you guys coming within a foot or 2 of me when im tending to a downed rider because a flag was missed or someone thought they were going a "Safe speed" or "safe distance" to be away from us. Lots of stuff happens that isnt 1 persons fault or the others, theres so much judgement that goes into things at the track and "accidents" do happen.

I just started poking around the internets on this one because theres always more to a story. Theres so much more information out there on this including descriptions / statements posted by someone on the track right behind the girl that hit the corner worker. Even at that im sure there is more information behind it as typically corner workers dont just take things upon themselves to go running around a hot track but I guess we have to wait and see if more reports come out from actual officials involved.
If anyone wants to read further information. These are all publicly accessible forums.

Take everything with a grain of salt because again noone knows what was going on, via radio or communications, the CW was said to have slipped which means there could have been enough of a break in the field to get the debris and get back without having an issue. There will more than likely be more news out there as facts trickle in im sure. But people calling things a "coverup" I think are off base. Debris happens, rider said it was a KneePuck out there for more than a lap... more than a lap = its now part of the course doesnt it?

I find it strange that everyone is talking about suing the track. Why is the track responsible? It really looks to me like this CW just wasn't doing what he was supposed to do. The track is no more responsible than the bike manufacturer, its just an element that facilitated the accident.

+1 I think its just people in shock and not really thinking things through. Same with debris on the track. You all know there could be something out there at any time, if you hit debris you cant sue someone.. Workers are there to limit your risk and or danger, not remove it completely.

Wow sad.
It sounds as if the CW shouldn't have been on the track, errors were made. And apparently Barber officials lied about the "object".
I'd not pass judgement without more facts though, and I'm sure it'll be investigated

yup. it was a practice session. a friend of mine down there was running at the time, he didn't actually see the incident but said one lap he saw the corner worker and the next lap a couple bikes down and one rider was up and walking. He knew there was trouble when he saw the medflight chopper coming in.
