How long can a set last? How many races+Practices will they last (D209)????
I heard its usually 2-3 changes per season?????
Another question is at what point would you switch to slicks??? I imagine when you start sliding around on dots???
cant say anything about dunlops. but pirellis and michelins i was doing 8-10 races, & 8 - 12 practice sessions

- what kind of bike?
- when did you buy them and were they brand new?
- what kind of times are you running?
- you switch to slicks when you no longer run classes that require DOTs. modern race DOTs are slicks anywhere near the edge so you don't gain a lot... unless maybe your last name is wood, greenwood or narbonne.

Depends on how fast you're running. What are your lap times like?
And I'd say there's never a NEED to switch to slicks. In fact Todd Babcock (who runs Dunlops) is running 1:16's in LWSS, a class which requires DOT's. I'm sure the bike's moving around on him quite a bit, but you deal with it.

you run slicks when your bike doesnt qualify for DOT races
how long do tires last? with your 1:30 lap times...you might use 2 rears to 1 front, but that depends on how many races your doing too.
When I start my KTM in the morning, rules are broken. Its inevitable...

so an sv running 30's... lets assume you bought them brand-new last race weekend of last year, and let's assume that d209s are race DOTs (i have no idea about dunlops and i'm too lazy to look it up)
at least 1/2 the season
running that pace 4 races/weekend + practices for at least 1/2 the season
not uncommon for an AM lightweight bike running 23's - 21's. I did 3 sets last year running those times (24s in april - 20s in sept), but probably only needed to do 2.
see above. this shouldn't even be on your radar. you may never need to switch to slicks.

Don't worry, Just asking for information only....I have a long way to go!
me too. just be smooth and take baby steps... giant leaps in speed usually end with rides in the crash truck![]()
