    An expensive race weekend

I ended up with a bruised/sprained ankle/foot and knee and a broken hand...the 5th metacarpel. Have a temp cast till wednesday then go to my ortho guy for the real cast.

I botched the start and stalled it...when I got it going again I was hit by the guy behind me prob trying to figure out why i was still in front of him. I think that he hit my master cylinder and caused air to get in the break lines...well...I didnt know that and figured everything was fine and I was upright ...so I grabbed the throttle hard trying to make up ground...real fast....so at the end of the straight in 3rd gear I went to break and the lever came all the way back to the bar...a few times. Talk about an oh shit moment.

So, I looked ahead and saw the hill and no wear to go and figured my best bet was the jump and let her do a ghost ride...the corner workers said she actually jumped at the top of the hill and did a tail stand in the chain link. One photographer...Joe from seeyourreflections.com said he counted at least 7 rolls that i did. I thought it was only a couple...so that would explain why I was just a little dizzy.

Damage is mostly plastics...I will have to have the forks looked at and some of the other front end hard parts.

    pics to follow...

    Stupid Yamahas!

I've cut the cast and gone back out to win the next day. Staying home hurt my pride more than the physical pain hurt my wrist.

What was the final verdict, did the impact put air into your lines? Seems odd, like an impact should have caused the mechanism to fail, instead of introducing air...

No real verdict...its just best guess. That was the race day. My bike would have never made it through tech even if I could have gotten on it.

What the heck happened to the guy on the white bike? Is that the guy that hit you from behind?

This was at the start? Damn that is a fast first corner too. I remember hitting 130 before I started braking and I know you were hitting higher than that. SHIT man! Glad you came away with just broken pinky.

Know there is even more reason to paint the bike.

You would not believe what I have gotten through tech, everything somewhat functional, pre-grid pulling out pieces of sod and rocks, no windscreen, no front fender, gobs of racer's tape and zip ties.

I would not think that an impact introduced air, more like a lever perch was broken off.

Oh, good for you bailing, it's a sign of mature skill. Some insist on riding it out, or panic, that's when things get really bad.

good show, you did what you had to.

Sorry to hear bout your hand, ankle, knee etc. Sweet pic of the bike in the fence though

Think the hit pushed the pistons back into the caliper requiring more squeezes to push em back out? Not as uncommon as you might think.

I was not gona be able to make it out again. Riding it out would have meant me in the fence or over it...not a good thing.

Wow that's a fabulous pic! I love the 'dust trail'. Glad to hear you are okay all things considered. We had two riders die in the last few years, one from stalling on the grid and the other due to a brake failure. You had both...

On a unrelated note. The first thing I thought when I saw the first pic was "that helmet is illegal at LRRS"

I still can't believe it got stuck in the fence..

I know, and you shoulda raised your hand instead of trying to re-start! just saying any reason to hate a yamaha is a good one I'm sure that white R6 had absolutely nothing to do w/ it, but it was still his fault, that bastard
