They just did revbiews of this one in all the bike magazines. Accordingly it is surpisingly comfortable to ride. A little pricey, but I am seeing a future replacement for my rc51 when I bite that bullet.

Wow your ear must be much better than mine. So what do you think the valve timing is, lift lobe centers, compression (static & dynamic) and you might as well throw in the barometric pressure too???? It just sounds great to me.

Heh, just commenting on the note. Faster open/close rates on the exhaust and higher compression generally give a sharper 'crack' to each thud from the exhaust. That's in general, which is why a track prepped Katoom sounding that... mellow in note surprised me. If it's not valve timing/compression, it's gotta be something in the exhaust, in which case I dunno what mechanism is causing that softened note and am now damn curious. : )

Ok, the difference in sound is kinda like the sound of someone hitting a pillow with a bat, and a glass window with a bat. One goes 'whump' and one goes 'KA-RACK!' The KTM sounds more like the first. Built motors typically sound more like the second.

All I have to say is, I cant see the movie at work, but if you're talking about the RC8 it looks AWESOME.

Head down to RAZEE's in North kingstown, RI if you are anywhere close. They just got one. Furthermore, it is wearing special edition BLACK fairings and looks even better than the Orange.

If it didnt cost 20K, Id love to have one of them...
