As many of you know, I've been racing a clapped out '05 GSXR. No slipper, no luxuries and the thing is just big for a small person like me. I'm considering getting something a bit newer and hoping that I can get some suggestions and insight into some of the newer options.
A factory slipper and a smaller size are the most important factors for me. Power isn't that important but relative reliability is.
It seems like the R6 is the default bike with a fair amount of GSXR's mixed in with the odd ZX6-R, CBR and 848 sprinkled in. I'd like some insights into each of the bikes. Bonus points to those who've had experience on more than one.
This will end up rather subjective but the I think the aggregate input will be rather valuable and accurate.
Go.

If you mean big by height the r6 is pretty tall when set up well fyi.

Are you absolutely looking to stay in the MW class?

I think any of the newer gen MW bikes are at least going to feel smaller than your 05....
I may be selling my 06 r6 this winter if you're interested. Not much newer than your bike, but more competitive IMO.

Yes, I'm definitely staying with a MW. And a Ninja 300 might accidentally show up in my garage too.........

I'm also a smaller guy at 5'8" & have experiences with all the bikes mentioned asides from the duc. Owned an 05 cbr and it has a wide plank wood of a seat that's sucks for shorter people with shorter inseam. Rode my buddy's 07 cbr & it was slightly slimmer in the seat compared to the 05.
Rode my buddy's 06 r6 & it's tall. Tippy toes & maybe even lean to one side at a standstill but once your riding it feels very planted. I think it's due to the lip on the tank.
Owned an 06 750 & I could almost flat foot that baby due to its slimmer portion of the seat up at the tank. Probably felt the most comfortable on this bike coming from a shorter person's point of view.
Currently own an 09 zx6r & love this bike. At this point height doesn't bother me anymore. Not an aggressive seating as the r6 & not as comfortable as my gix but it's a happy median IMO.
Yea, the height thing isn't important to me. I'm more concerned with the size of the cockpit area and being able to climb around while hustling it around a track.

No real benefit getting a GSXR newer that 06/07. Little more power, but weight is around the same. Upgrades aren't really they're yet. I hear the 08+ R6 motors are better than the 06/07, but someone like smutty would be better on that subject.
You've seen our garage, we're all on 06/07 GSXR's. They're easy to setup and parts are cheap.
You can get a used 09 6r pretty cheap if you keep your eyes open. I love mine. Never tracked it though. Your welcome to take a spin around the block if your ever near Lowell.
