Anyone have any recollection or video of what I did in turn 11? I lost it on the outside of lap 3. I remember the curb and tucking the front end. After a 15-minute nap I woke in the ambulance on the way to Concord. I ended up with a concussion but fortunately no broken bones or major scrapes. The blue Ducati looks like the 18th green of a golf course. All covered in grass and dirt. I'm trying to put the events together and there are a lot of holes in my memory. One spectator said I did 5 cartwheels. Thanks for any info you can share...and sorry for messing up the race.
-Mike
I am very glad to hear from you Mike, been wondering hard about ya! I only saw the bike and you out there. The restart helped me out, so thanks!

Thanks for the picture. I can't remember any of this. From the picture it looks like two bikes. Did two of us go down?
No. You were the only rider in that incident.
Yikes Mike, had no idea you went for a bus ride. Glad nothing is broken. Did you hit the curb entering T11 on the right? It doesn't take much of a mistake to end up wide and over that curb, I've done it a few times.

I've gone over that curb before with no issue. Years ago I remember a track day were we intentionally drove over every curb to prove you could survive. The frustrating part is I don't remember any of it. I may go with, "5 guys with baseball bats assaulted me on the straightway....(etc, etc) "

i watched the race and saw a duc( not yours) blowing oil the lap before you crashed. it was smoking bad out of 2. he must have been dumping oil
I was a few bike lengths behind you when you hit the launch button! It looked like you came in a bit hot and stood the bike up to abort mission at the last second. You were a bit far to the outside and hit the curb, launching you and the bike a few feet in the air. I thought you would stick the landing but the bike came down nose first with the front wheel turned and brakes locked. As soon as the front wheel hit the pavement the bike shot to the right giving you room to lawn dart yourself into the pavement. Unfortunately I did not have my camera on so no video. Hope you recover quick, that was a pretty scary crash!
Glad you are ok Mike! Wishing a speedy and full recovery.
This same Ducati was smoking during practice....Im very surprised nobody said anything before the actual race..
I was in race 2 Mike, saw you tumble to a halt and not move at all....at the re-grid, guys were yelling to eachother that it was you....and all said they hoped you were ok.
Dick...I was rolling in after the red flag came out.
That was Sergio. That thing was smoking so bad that I almost couldn't see the apex of T1 from the 3 board. Mo was a little ahead of me and aborted into Nascar T1. It was smoking like a pig, but burning it all as he wasn't (obviously) oiling the track.

Thanks guys for all the input. Lesson learned....don't lead with your head, it hurts! Everyone was fantastic. A whole crew loaded my gear to take home. We may compete on the track, but off track you guys are great group of humans. Doctor says I'm off work for 10 days with a concussion. Otherwise all I have to show is a Band-Aid on one finger. See you in July. -Mike
This sounds very familiar... this same thing happened to me going into 11, downshift and the bike went over the curb very fast launching me into the grass like a lawn dart..
Knocked out for a long time,... bus ride to Concord.. same diagnosis concussion; ED doc told the my wife to wake me up yada yada...
Well i'm paying for it now; two bulging discs in c5/c6 with stress fractures and nerve compression..
Surgery on the way to remove and replace and they said its all from the trauma of that crash..
Be careful, if you didn't get an MRI I would strongly suggest it..
After the crash we found that the front carb of my sv stuck wide open and that is why the bike took off after the downshift.
Hope you heal up and don't have any residual issues.
