If the stars align, and I can get everything sorted in time I'm contemplating doing my RR and the Miss Match this weekend (very, very last minute decision).
I have never race prepped a bike before, and am going to need some serious help getting my sh** together in time for this weekend. Nothing is drilled or safety wired, and I do not have a drill press.... HELP!!!
And yes, I know the rule book is online but I have the damnedst time interpreting it.
What else do I need to do? Pull the kickstand I presume... Does engine ice need to be flushed and replaced with water or is that cool to run?
I managed to rig up the track plastics to be street legal-ish, so do I need to pull off the flush mount turn signals I mounted (they are plastic) or would tape do?
Looking to do bare minimum needed to do this weekend, rather than the "gold standard" since this is such a last minute contemplation...
Also curious... After the RR and Miss Match, if I wanted to do one more race, or something on Sunday what would be a good one to do? I love my 600 but the thought of running it in the meatgrinder classes scares the bejeezus out of me....
Don't want to be waaaay over my head.![]()
haha was the track bug that bit you carrying rabies or something?

You could borrow someone's ex or something? Otherwise...the gto, or u...whichever it falls into appeared to be a little more laid back than mwgp.

MW is NOT as bad as they make it sound, I was worried myself my first weekend.
you'll get fast racing, race pace is much different then TD pace. You'll be fine out there, I know how you ride. Good Luck!![]()
You'll only be in over your head if you ride over your head.
I'll be there tomorrow when the gates open. If you want/need help, stop by. It's the EX500 Garage, 11 or 12 South (closest to T3). If you need a bike for the rookie race or the miss match, you can use mine. It's not anything special, but it's LW & free.
I'm leaving for the track in a few hours so I'll PM my #.
Not to rain on your parade, but why don't you take your time to set up your bike and racing program and just do the October event? Any weekend of racing is short on time, especially your first weekend when your figuring everything out. All that extra stress of working on your bike is not going to help your mental focus. Its not as mellow as a trackday once your on the grid, engines revving waiting for the green flag.
If your stubborn like me you'll be racing on Saturday anyways....good luck chica![]()

Hehe, yes, I'm very stubborn. Heading down to GMD to get the bike sorted so I should be good to go for Saturday. Don't think there is too much more to do than safety wire and I guess I need to rattle can the yellow number plates on the bike white?
Hell, my stuff is still packed from the track days this week. All I need to do is wash socks and underwear![]()
Pretty pumped for both you and Greg. Rip it up kids.
I'll be across from the t3 bleachers if you need a hand with anything. I feel obligated to return the help after everything those cats did for me.

Don't have rains, and hope I won't need them. We will be leaving NH as soon as Greg is off work, so will probably beat you to Loudon. I think I am garaged right across the bench from you so I will find you easily
And yes, I will be drilling holes all night. My plan to make it down to GMD fell through because I couldn't stop puking and had to go to the ER for IV fluids yesterday...![]()
thanks, ma.
jk, chuckles raises a valid point. and i'll refrain from making any jokes about you drilling holes all night.

If I don't feel 100% I won't ride.
But I would hate to give up, sit home, and feel completely better Saturday morning and kick myself because I didn't get to the track. Plus the Miss Match is this weekend.
I have the time off work, the use of a trailer, a dog sitter lined up, and want to ride...and my stuff is already packed from the track days this week.
I would rather have a fun weekend hanging out at the track than sit home, or drive all the way to Monticello. I miss the track![]()
Probably high 30's?? I think you were at the last Bomo trackday running intermediate? Thought I saw you a couple times.
