Read the rules, I'm safety wiring:
-caliper bolts (front and rear)
-front axle stay bolts (the four in the front of the fork at the bottom)
-oil plug, fill, dipstick
-oil filter
Am I missing anything. This is on an 05 r6. Pretty sure I'm supposed to do the header bolts, but thy're nuts that thread onto stems that come off the block, so not sure how I could do that. Also, my rear axle bolt is solid with no cotter pin, does this need to be wired?![]()

Radiator cap, water pump drain bolt...can't think of any others. Here is how I did my R6 axle nut.
And you also do the header nuts the same way.

rear axle nut needs to be done. I usually start those by drilling straight like im going right thru, just enough to make a divit. Then you can angle it diagonally thru. Front axle main bolt, and outer exhaust bolts too. Those last ones are a pia. Water pump drain bolt also.

Wirelessly posted
1/16. Not 5/16. Lol. That's some BIG safety wire
The water pump drain bolt is often forgotten and most riders don't have it done.
You need the inner and outter header bolts wired.
The radiator cap.
Calipers.
Front & rear axles.
Front axle pinch bolts.
Front and rear caliper bolts.
Oil fill cap
Oil drain boot.
Many wire the brake pad pins also.
I didn't even try to drill the header nuts because they tend to harden a bit from heat cycles. Just pick up some new nuts for the studs and pre-drill them and put them on IN ADDITION TO the existing nuts and then run safety wire.
Thanks for the input guys.
Is the water pump drain bolt the big bolt on the front of the engine block, right behind the header? It's on a 4 or 5 inch round part with hoses going to it.

Water pump bolts on the Yamahas should be on the right side of engine. On my R6 its a 8mm bolt with a crush washer on it. Its the bottom bolt on the case where the two hoses come in.
As for the header bolts. You can "cheat" a little. Just do the two outside pipes. Wrap wire around the inside stud close to the bolt and bring it around to the outside stud. The nuts wont be wired but with the wire on the stud they wont go anywhere.
Also dont forget the bolt that holds the exhaust can on. Im assuming youre getting race prepped? Doing all this for a trackday is overkill.
WHAT?!?!?
My friend told me these were the requirements for Tony's day?

Just kidding.
Yeah I'm race prepping for this weekend. Trying to be proactive so there are no surprises at tech Saturday morning. Although it looks like I will be swapping brake lines Thursday night in the gargage. Got a little last minute...right?![]()
