2018 LRRS Rules are out

Anne-Marie has sent out an email blast with the 2018 rulebook pdf, I don't see it on NHMS' site yet. She specifically called out the following things for racers to take note of:

AM/EX combined classes for 300/500 SuperSport & 300/500 SuperBike
Practice Starts
Cat Converter
Wheelies
Lever Guards
Spec Fuel

Digging through the things that jump out at me:
- 300 SS & 300 SB cap singles at 310cc, so the KTM is now a 500 class machine.
- Electric bike rules, might have been there before but never noticed.
- Graham is still Chief Referee, yay!
- No announcer yet, TBA.

On combined classes it means if that pesky AM gets in front of you, he just stole your podium.

Yes that’s what I thought it meant...

Also they must have screwed up the wording on the 300 classes because it also exclude the R3.

“Twin cylinder, four stroke liquid cooled up to 300 cc”

That leaves the ninja 300 in that class...

You can wheelie on hot pit after a sign that says “now entering the wheelie zone”... all the way until you pit out.

Don't forget the line they painted on the ground to indicate the end of the wheelie section.

I have to say, if I bought a ktm specifically for the 300 class and then now its not allowed...I'd be pissed.

You guys should just do the ktm cup in jersey instead. 4 rounds this year.

It looks like LRRS moved to match CCS for 300 SS and SB definitions. So KTMs and R3s are now 500 class machines. I say skip those classes, go full nutter on the motor and jump into ULGP!

6.2.6 Wheelies and/or any other stunt are strictly prohibited in the paddock, pits and on pit road. All wheels must be on the ground at all times, on any machine, pit bike or other wheeled vehicle. The only wheelies which will be allowed will be in the area of competition on the Hot Pit indicated by two signs that say “Wheelie Zone” placed at Pit Stall #19 and wheelies will be allowed until Pit Out, which is indicated by a 12 inch white line and row of cones.

6.2.6.1 Any violation of this rule will be dealt with by the Chief Referee, or his or her designee, accordingly.

I just read the rule. I honestly thought that those posts were sarcasm. Wheelie zone is a real thing.
We should add some no pass and no crash zones too.

The wording on pit shenanigans is pretty well spelled out too. Not sure if they added rules, but it looks like they have five pages of rules that basically say " no fun" in the pits.

I was about to joke about only using factory equipped turbos on your flame throwers 'cause adding them on after is illegal but I can't find the relevant rule in the book any more... are turbos now SB/GP legal?!

3 propane cylinders max. If you use mapp pro it's 2. Unlimited weight per cylinder.

Well, there you go. They just changed the rule and did an exception for lrrs. Ktm 390 and yamaha r3 added to 300 supersport and superbike.
