Photos from Laconia 1984 including the infamous annual bathroom bonfire and the classic Tokyo on ramp.
why does it feel like 20 years ago girls enjoyed the fact men liked to look at their breasts?
Best thread ever btw
and how short are those shorts?
I got my picture in Biker Lifestyle magazine!

So like 20 years ago it was ok to show off your balls and upper thigh area in short shorts. But today its a crime against humanity if some "thug" droops his pants and shows off his undies?
No wonder this country is all fucked up.
Great thread. I only went to the national but I remember it quite well. First time I saw a GSXR750. I think a Mass dealer got one out of Canada and had to run it in Formula 1 as it wasn't here in the USA yet. It was like a race bike with lights as they say.
We used to race MX next door (when they had a so-so MX track also at Bryar) and between motos watch our friends race AAMRR some weekends or on some weekends the karts.

I def recognize some of those mid-90's pics.
I used to do a lot of auto time trials at Loudon in 79 and 80.
You could always tell when the bike races had been, because all the doors were ripped off all the toilet stall doors.

Well nobody has complained about some of the pics. I think we can go a little deeper into the archives of things that went on up on the hill. Well i must warn you some these are pretty disturbing and i don't agree with some of the things in these pics? "Like the shirt" But these were some of the crazy things people did up there.

MOM?!?!??
(just thought I would remind everyone that these pictures are 20 years old and some of the "kids" on here could easily be the result of some of the mayhem seen here)

I remember going to the races with my dad sometime in the late 80's when I was probably 11 or 12. We were never big race fans, but one year he got a couple of tickets. We took mom's GL1100 'wing. Dad bought a Bubba Shobert signature Bell hemlet from one of the vendors' tents in town. We then watched one of the top pros (I think it was Bubba himself) low side into some hay bales right in front of us.
Later dad dropped the GL1100 in some deep sand leaving. Took four guys plus my scrawny ass to get the thing upright again.
I was still using the helmet as late as '01.![]()
Actually no. Entirely unrelated.
I did wear the helmet in high school, where the nickname came from. Probably didn't help.
The good ol' days!
Thanks to all that contributed to one of the best threads I have seen here
I almost added to this from my own archive
I still love the smell of burnt racing fuel in the morning!
Probably not the first wing to get dropped / sunk in the sand, but damned if I don't remember seeing one just like you describe, buried, behind the main grand stand. And a number of guys trying to finish lifting it, it was at a 45 degree angle when I saw it. And I remember them pushing it after.
How I miss the good ol days of Loudon as well.
15,000+ bikes on the lawn out behind the main stand. Race track in front of the main stand and on 106 behind the stands. Bikes flying by on both sides...and one side HAD cops standing by the road with the speed limit. Them days are long gone.
Hell I almost plowed into the back of a stopped van because I was riding the 94 gixxer 7 along staring at a hot blonde showing her tits![]()
The bike wasn't so bad to get upright... if you were standing on solid ground. That sand was like beach sand and slippery as a mofo.
The 'wing was that bitchin' burgundy/brown. I think everyone had one like that. I think there's one in the background of one of duke$'s photos above.
In '90 dad finally got his HD. I made one last trip to the Weirs and Laconia with him one year in the mid 90's after I got my license. Him on his HD, me on my Honda 400. The most memorable part of that trip was sitting in traffic on 11 and watching some squid on a sport bike dump it trying to pull wheelies in a church parking lot.
Haven't been back since.
Maybe I'll talk pops into going up for a day this year. This time he'll have to take the ol' 400 as the HD is gone.
Had some of my old Loudon t-shirts made into a quilt a few years ago.
