    Penguin School Question

I'll be signing up a friend of mine for Penguin School at the last race weekend. He'll be taking it on my bike and then completing his rookie race the next day. Couple of questions:

    - Can he practice Saturday and race the rookie race without buying a license for 2009?

    - Would he still get licensed if he did his rookie race this year and then waited until next year to do a legitimate race?

Simply trying to save him some cash. Seems almost foolish to purchase a race license at the last event of the season but at the same time I know attendance has been low for Penguin and they could probably use the extra enrollment.

    Thanks!
    Fitz

    Re: Penguin School Question

You need a race license to do the rookie race

He can wait until next year to do the rookie race though, you have 1 year from the date of penguin to do the rookie race.

    Re: Penguin School Question

If I remember correctly you have to pay for a race, its not included. The rookie race is included. Also, I believe the license is cheaper this time of year so it may work out for him.

To practice Saturday you have to enter one class. To enter one class, you have to pony up for a license.

He's right. You pay to register for a race the first weekend, your rookie race is no extra charge. They don't come separate. You also do have to pay for the actual license to do it.

    Re: Penguin School Question

    Penguin School & Rookie Race - $280
    License Fee - $55
Saturday Practice, Saturday Race - $70

Think I got it straight now.

If I race Saturday do I get practice on both Saturday and Sunday? Historically I've been packing up and coming home Saturday night simply to keep the peace at the homestead and relieve my wife from double kid duty. May have to push that limit a bit for the last weekend.

    Thanks,
    Fitz

Yes, and vice versa. As long as you're registered for one race sometime during the weekend, you get both Sat & Sun practice.

    Re: Penguin School Question

The best way is to do the rookie race on Saturday and your "real" race on Sunday. Four practices that way. Sunday has GTL and Lightweight Sportsman for SV650's.
