Congratulations MTAG.
We found out about this last week, and we're in contact with Pirelli directly to see what their plan is for 2012.
We definitely don't expect this to have any impact on the customer facing side of our business.![]()

Spill the beans. Did Pirelli kick rich out or vice-versa?
Honestly, we haven't gotten a full accounting of what happened from either end. For us, the news came out of left field.

Sweet, those EX250/CBR250 tire sizes will be a better fit for EX500s than the 160s/165s they're shoving on there now. Bridgestone's going to have some competition in those sizes for a change.
Yeah, the 160's they're cramming on there were Dunlops. Not sure how many EX'ers were running the 150 Pirelli. Mike Kurtz would probably know.

We had word about the 125 slicks and 250 tires a few months ago, but haven't made any announcements because pricing wasn't available.
As for 2012, yes, MTAG will still be your source for Pirelli race and trackday tires, so even though some things change on the back end, none of it will have any effect on the service you get from us.

Pirelli seems to be doing the same as Michelin is for 2012. Consolidating race distributors, and creating less shipping points for the manufacturer.
Pirelli just ships tires to a single race distributor on each coast. That company then takes care of the subs. Less costs to the tire company. No more shipping tires to six or seven smaller distributors and then subs.
