Do they make you use transponders for practice? And do THEY record and post your laptimes (again, for practice)?
Don't know if I'll have time to stop and get a stop watch that records laps, and sure as hell don't know if I'll figure out my lap timer on time....![]()
Did you grit your teeth and try to look like Clint Fuckin' Eastwood?
Or did you lisp it all hangfisted like a fuckin' flower?
Doesn't matter WHERE the beacon is. A lap is a lap is a lap. Just attach the timer to the bike, switch it on and it will display your lap times, easy as that.

But doesn't make a difference as to where the transmitters are in relation to where you 'point' the receiver?

Point it left, you only have to be between 6" off the floor and 5' off the floor or something and facing roughly in the direction of the beacon. The beacon is on the wall about 100 yards down from the beginning of the start finish straight. It's a small blue box that looks like it is sitting on a camera tripod and there is an electrical cord going into at and a car battery next to it. You will see it and say "Why didn't I notice that before?"

Oh, I didn't mean I couldn't figure out WHERE to mount it. I figure if it doesn't pick anything one way, turn it around the other way. I meant it'll be a cold day in hell before I figure out all the functions of it...
But my original question about the transponders still stands: Do they hand 'em out and do timing for Thursday practices?![]()

They DIDN'T have a transmitter out yesterday, so I'm not sure what kinda times I was running. It felt pretty damn good though, after my first coupla sessions. They ran the amateurs and juniors together, which kinda had me a little pissy at first. But I feel running with 'em really helped my lines and times. After the initial shock of running with 'em, I found myself passing a few of 'em. I know it was only practice, but man! What a confidence boost THAT is!Originally posted by Jankster
