Well I was really excited about giving daytona a shot this year. I've been thinking about it since I was down there for last year's ROC. I ran two laps of practice and one race last year on dan's bike and through the race I managed to get down to a decent lap time, something that would have put me in a good place in the AM races. I was hoping I could do something this year on my bike with a little more practice.
I guess they're going back to the old track layout. What that means to me is less infield and more power competition. Not good for my completely stock engine. Less infield means less area for me to make up time where myself and the rest of our loudon bunch excel.
And if all that wasn't enough! Only one tee shirt per competitor this year instead of one tee shirt per pre-entry like last year.$130/$100/$90 entry fees and a $5 shirt is too much.
All this taken in I'm having second thoughts about if I really want to take the time and spend the money to go down there to race this year. What are you all thinking?
It's all water under the bridge, and we do enter the next round-robin. Am I wrong?
The older track layout is a lot of fun. Day tona has always been a horsepower whore track. Just and beat the bag out of the old shit box and have fun braking from 180 to 60 to make the chicane...
Is this true?
I fell in love with the old track!!!!
Jay, you may like it a lot!

I agree, while the old layout can be intimidating, it is a lot of fun for the NHIS riders. Speaking in generalities, we (as a regional group) can really make up a lot of time in the infield. Playing cat and mouse for the race is fun at times.
Just becareful sitting up from behind the bubble entering the bus stop chicane. Due to the size of the track, you are going a lot faster than you think you are back there.![]()

Karloff? Sidekick? FUCK YOU!! That cocksucker does not deserve to smell my shit!
The West Banking was the best part of the track, I'm glad they'll use it again.
Coming out of the west horseshoe past the barrel corne and up the steep banking was always like hitting the top of a rollercoaster when you just tuck in and say 'oh shit, here we gooooooo!!!'
im thinking "how many bikes can i fit into the bus"?Originally posted by hessogood

but seriously, how many can you fit.

Depends on the velocity. I have a bike cannon that says we can get 25-30 in no problem. But if we use a chipper.......400 atleast.Originally posted by SVRACER01

... as you hammered the throttle on your 135 hp FX bike - and wound your way around the track screaming over the finish line with a 2:05 qualifying laptime - just a scant 12 seconds off-Pole.Originally posted by WebCrush

Yet went 4 seconds faster the previous trip there, but obviously you prefer to look at the worst laptimes, not the best, makes sense for.Originally posted by curio

So, how fast did YOU go that day, tough guy? Oh, you didn't go, show, race, etc.
Take care
I should have - 2:01s as an amateur on a stock 600.Originally posted by WebCrush

What's your excuse?
Shouldn't you be over at Wera.com?
As a 7th year amatuer? Cherry picker.
I haven't been to the WERA board since last April or May.
Whats your point?
2nd year (in 2000) - same time you were when you were a really fast amateur (pre-broken neck). But who's counting.Originally posted by WebCrush

What happened - that you haven't been back to the wera board?
Anything I can do to help? Did you say something mean to someone?

I think I did a 2:01 or 2:02 last year. I was a happy man.

Jay, you rode the new config, which is about 10 seconds faster than the old config.Originally posted by hessogood

So if it's 10 secs faster - that means you would have done a 2:00 laptime on the old course - on a 1000. A 170hp 1000.
.... sssaaaaaaaaadddddddd!
