Thanks to all at NESR Racing my first weekend as a Jr. was a huge success...
Saturdy... 3 gallons of water and a sunburn..
Race 1 on Saturday, a shortened GTU race due to the heat and humidity (damn it was hot) . Ran in first place for most of the race. Opened a 3 second lead at one time but the heat, humidity and my general out of shapedness( is that a word) got hte best of me, and Neal Garvin got by me near the end of the race... The pit board showed that I had 9 seconds on the 3rd place guy so I decided that finishing 2nd is better than crashing....
Race 7 HWSB. Got a good start from the back row, (Degsy says that I pussed out and should have gone into 1a in first) went into 1 in 3rd place.. stayed there for a while made a couple of mistakes and Neal Garvin and David Peterson got by me.. Stayed and battled with them for most of the race until I got held up by an Expert (never thought I would say that) in the bowl. Got by him and started realing in the 4th and 5th place guys.. Ran out of time and finished 6th not bad but I think I can do better... 588 Mike Sweeney was there and of course won by a mile.
Race 14 MWGP...The money race (Who knew it was 15 laps) I got another good start... 2nd into turn 1 but here comes Neal again and he gets me in the bowl… I got lapped by the top 2 experts near the end of the race.. I did get to follow Jeff Wood through turn 3 (Shit he is fast) …There is a line there with no bumps, hitting it is the problem. I finished 3rd and ran a bunch if 19’s in a row while battling with Neal..
All in all a good day….
Sunday not as humid but still pretty hot
Race 2 MWSS. Great race except for the fact that the a couple of guys fell in front of me in turn 10. I finished 3rd after a huge battle with the same guys as Saturday. Neal and the other guy in front of me crashed giving me 3rd by default… But I will take it.. Mike Sweeney 588 decided to enter this race as well so he won…again.
Race 9 Unlimited SuperSport (my scheme to get a win in my first weekend as a Jr.)…
This is run in the same wave MW supersport. I entered this race knowing that Mike Sweeney and Neal Garvin were entering the MW race… I did have to battle with David Peterson who beat me consistently on Saturday. I started in the back row again and got a good start, but shit there is Peterson in front of me… I followed him around for a lap and decided if I didn’t pass him soon he was going to run away with my secret race… So down the chute we go I wait an extra split second on the gas and out break him up the inside of 3 to take 1st in that race and 3rd overall… woo hoo now don’t crash stupid I press on three laps later the boys on the wall report I have 3 seconds on my new rival, I can relax and keep the bike in one piece.. I get back to the pits and my little plan worked. I won a race.. Still haven’t gotten in the 18’s but that is next weekend…
Thanks to all who helped out.. Especially the NESR Racing Crew who donates so much time and effort so that the all of the riders, or “Talent” as Chris likes to call us, can do this. Cristina and Sarah (the Wall-Mart team) for keeping everyone hydrated and fed. And especially the guys who ran my pit board.. You have no idea how important that is. Gordon stepped up again this weekend and corner worked half a day so that racing could continue.. It was nice on the cool down lap to see someone I knew cheering us on from Turn 10. DART came through with some tasty treats on Sunday, Thanks to them for that.. And anyone else I forgot THANKS..
One more thing, congrats to Bob for winning his first race. And to my teammates you guys rock… hurry up and move up so we can sweep the podium in the heavy weight races..
Later

Congrats G......You were amidst some serious competition and you rose to the occasion like a champ. It must be nice to be able to run through that track like that......I hope to someday be there. Someday.
Thanks to all you guys for being so nice and allowing me to hang out with you for the day saturday. and Gerardo...Without the Lock wire pliers...I would have been there for much longer than i was.........thank You.
See you all at the next race day....hopefully.
A first, a second, and two thirds. You have a lot of talent, man !
Impressive for your first weekend in the junior class on your little 600 scooter.
Sorry I wasn't there for the awards ceremony yesterday to see ya get the awards. I feel bad for not hanging around. Of course, that's not so important to you now, since they get hand delivered to you when you aren't there yourself...
And yes, I agree Christina deserves a lot of thanks for keeping us fed and watered. She's awesome.![]()
G-man you kicked ass this weekend, way to make a name for yourself in the Jr. class. Its always a pleasure workin for ya![]()
