If you have a 750 that's pretty much ready to go. Race that. Novice HW classes are pretty mellow compared to MW actually. Get some weekends under you belt and then figure out your game plan from there. Not only will you be better educated on the track, but also having spent some weekends up there you'll be better educated OFF the track. In regards to class options, structures, what bikes do well, talking to other races, etc.
Novice and Am classes are all about the rider anyway. Bike doesn't matter much. I remember as a Novice racing my 72hp 20 year old Ultralight bike in HW and running in the top 3 and top 6 or some shit in a MW race. Just go do some laps.

Why are you always the biggest ball buster about the rules? You've done like 4 races in the last 5 years on a frankenbike in the least competitive class that 0 people give a shit about.
The OP has an 06/07 750, which is identical to the 06/07 600's. I've done motor swaps from a 600 to a 750 and know what's different. They are the SAME bike except the motor, ECU, and air box. Hell, it wouldn't surprise me if most 06/07 600/750 race bikes were made of half parts of the other size.
I don't like seeing misinformation for one, two I'm a gamer, nerd AND engineer which means I get my wife to read me the rule book followed by Yamaha's 1973 parts catalog to help me drift off to sleepy land each night. I'll let the other UL and LW guys know no one cares about us at the BBQ, we can all shed a tear while we tell lies and share stories. You're still wrong. Even if the part numbers are different on the 06/07 600/750 micro fiche, it's the same frame. Weight, size, and engine mounts are for either motor.
It's still MW SS legal if he has a 600 motor in there.
We're talking factory parts, not aftermarket custom lightened frames.
Not according to the rules. They go by PN, not eyeball. I agree with others that you're not likely to get protested, but as I said, if you do, you loose. I don't know the current crop of novice/am MW racers but I'm assuming we haven't had any drama queens sneak in when I wasn't looking.
I agree with Alex, he's got the bike already, it's ready to go, take the school and race it. Minimal cost, minimal effort, least possibility of causing an unexpected mechanical by mucking with too much at once beforehand, what's not to like?
And when he gets there, he'll have experience under his belt to determine if his budget and endurance makes 6 classes enough of a day, or if he wants to move to a different class/bike/etc. For some people getting to 1:23s is a long journey, for others it's not. He still has to START that journey first, and right now he's in a position to add gas/oil and do so.
and once he's at the 1:23 mark you and him will have some great races jim!! jk buddy (you were movin well last round)

Seriously, you will piss away the cost of an SV in two weekends on the 750, and then costs will spiral up from there. Besides, no one ever got very good starting out on a MW bike. There are too many reasons to list.
SVs are insanely inexpensive. I recently renovated my garage and have uncovered some extra space. Toying with the idea of buying yet another one just to fill up that space.
Not exactly correct ... the last weekend I had the unfortunate task of protesting a guy running a built 1k, running non-spec rocket fuel, in F40. Fricking thing was a rocket ship ... and yes, it was well set up. We would both come out of T12 and by the time I hit start finish he would already be through T1.
As an aside, I took ROTY riding a 750 ... so being limited to 6 classes isn't all that bad. However, after that first year, I went to a 600 and haven't looked back.

Since this is a thread about questions.. what makes gas legal vs not? You can legally carry in 93 pump gas from the Shell down the way, right?
The only pump gas that's race legal is from the NHMS pumps. They made a mid-season rulebook change.

the CCS North East region (LRRS) only allows a specific list of approved fuels:
- VP C12 (leaded 112 octane)
- VP StreetBlaze 100 (unleaded 100 octane)
- Sunoco ???? (equivilant to VP C12)
- Sunoco GT260 (unleaded 100 octane)
- Sunoco 93 pump at the fuel station
now if you were to compete in any other CCS regional, then you can use any type of fuel you want. I see a lot of VP MR12 cans at NJMP.
