    race bike dash question

I've got a Graves fairing bracket

That has space for only one larger gauge. What do you think I'd be better off putting there, the speedo or the tach?
    I'm thinking the tach.

Ya, you don't put a speedo on a racebike. Tach only.

Tach. Its more important to know where the engine is then how fast youre going. If people are passing you then you know your speed isnt high enough

Yea, I guess it is really a stupid question. I mounted it with the tach but then a non-trackday/non-racer friend of mine questioned why no speedo.

I saw a pic, here maybe, of a tach with tape over it so it only showed rpm's greater than 6k. So as to remind you to keep the bike spinning in the higher range.

Ill try to remember to get a photo tomorrow. My lap timer is mounted over my tach. I can see between 8k and 16k. If I dont see a needle then Im in the wrong gear.

I thought the speed of every vehicle is the same all the time... Not fast enough.

Tach. Of course if you really know your bike you don't need one of those either...

    Pretty much.

This will be my first year racing with a gauge cluster. I'm not even sure why I'm putting one on....
