I'm really redoing/eliminating alot of the bodywork on my racebike. The problem I have is this: the tail has way less area than it used to(think honda rc212v mini-tail), so conventional numberplates won't work. Now I've seen an R6 racing up there with the "rear" number display areas at the rear of the front fairing, not on the tail. What do you think?
I'll have to post a pic of mine, but how finicky are the tech folks on this issue?

thats a buddy of mine.....rob bloodgood that has the numbers on the side of the r6 instead of the tail. the new r6's have kind of the same issue....esp with the sharkskins tail (like he has).
he ran that by the tech guys before he did it and they loved it (vs putting small numbers on such a small tail section)
heres a pic of it (nats in the waybut w/e)

Speaking of numbers what is the deal with those canadians getting away with running novice colors and the wrong size even in am AM race.

You can put 1 set of numbers on top of the tail like the AMA guys

Really! That would be cool.

that makes a lot of sense. you could fit 8" numbers out back in that case.

Well, I'll be working on it tonight. I was gonna eliminate 99% of the bodywork behind the rider(me), so the numbers on the top of the tail wouldn't work. Maybe I'll make something like that though. Mike, if you could find out about the top mounted numbers I'd greatly appreciate it.

well if you are fiberglassing up a tail then just make little # plates off the bottom. i have no idea what it looks like but...

968 very good numbers, rider told me that they were 5.5" tall. Still very legible. If you read the rulebook, 6" numbers are allowed on the side.
I seriously doubt that the Haga-style rear will fly. Last I heard, WERA is going to ban them, except for endurance, where each team provides a scorer.
