After catching heat over ordering a 520 kit for a litre bike, I have some other info for ya
DID ERV3 = 8650 lbs tensile
EK MVXZ = 9300 lbs
That's for 520 pitch, My 520 chain is stronger than DID's 530 ERV. Slick. The DID is the lighter chain though. Thiner side plates = lighter weight but clearly not the strongest.
In your application, you'll probably want the lighter chain.
As for sprockets...I've used vortex without a problem, even though the rear aluminum isn't hard anodized. I had no problems with them on my gixxer 750 though. Vortex prices aren't crazy either. Sunstar are stamped. Not good. Not pretty when they explode either. Never used Renthal, but have never heard anything bad about them.
Oh yea, the backside of the EK chain box also says to clean the chain with a biodegradable degreaser, then to use kero if necessary.

exactyl that's why EVR3 is not good for liter bikes.
maybe I was not all that clear - it's the stongest/weigh ratio chain.... my comments were aimed at a)knowing it was for a SV and b) looking for power savings of going non O ring.... not necessary going to gain anything
BTW the evr3 has 15% greater fatigue strenght than evr2 - make sure its a EVR3, there are still EVR2 and even EVR1 chains out there.

Which is why I bought the EK MVXZ
I thought I had a scale here, I was going to weigh the chain (uncut, 120 links) and then try to get someone to weigh an uncut ERV to compare to. I know the DID is lighter, but this thread got me curious. Unfortunately, the scale I found was broken.
In the sake of correctness
MY BAD, Turns out there is no Kero in WD40.
It does has a significant amount of petroleum, creating a penetrating fluid primary aimed at Water Displacement, hence the WD..... and the 40.......

Given the make up - my point stands - it may start to dissolve O ring material before the light machine oil does any good...

wd-40..... no good for o-rings
kero.... recommended by a lot of companies on the chain care instructions (but not all)

Absolutely! It seems like piddly stuff now but it was under the premise of every little thing you could do might help.
Now the every little thing you can do is stuff like trick fork internals, GMD setup, Dyno's for jetting, ceramic bearings, 0 weight engine oil, lightened rotors and wheels, looser crank bearing tolerances, etc. etc. etc!
The biggest thing you could do back then to improve your times was to not eat a Bryar burger before a race.

I have driven sprockets and a DID 520ERV3. Both are great stuff and I got a good deal on the whole kit from MotoMummy
As for cleaning, kerosene is the best cleaner... the only thing that the manufacturers do not recommend is leaving the chain soaking in it for more than 30 minutes.
