Nice find Pete.
This confirms things.
SHOCK REBOUND TEAR
That's what I've got. It's because my spring was too soft so I had to compensate with the rebound because my preload was cranked in to achieve 1" -/+rider sag. This gave me 0 free sag.

The Shock Rebound Tear is interesting.
I had that occur, but the tire in question was very old (don't ask...it was old).
I haven't seen the same symptoms since so I'd liken that occurance to tire age.
My tires fit the profile of the shock rebound tear

This link should be *pegged* either at the top of this forum, or in "Suspension Corner." Great stuff. Getting your springs / basic sag set up properly is one of the biggest keys to getting on your way to proper handling and setup... kind of horrifying to see in real terms what getting this wrong can do to your tires!
There's also some riding technique at play here. the more corner speed you use, the less your tires tear and wear. I wouldn't really count on settings changing you tires into nice smooth cue balls. That requires entry speed and early, smooth throttle application.
