Tried my hand at safety wiring today...

    Is this the general idea?

That's the idea, but if you're going to "wrap" twisted wire around the bolt head, like on that inner pinch bolt, the tension should pull the bolt clockwise (tighter), not counter. (see caliper bolts for correct tension)

    I agree. Clockwise wrap........
I also write the torque of the bolts everywhere. Good job on picking that one up. Black sharpie. Just do not use acetone. It disappears.

It looks like you anti-safety wired it. If one bolt loosens, they all do!

LOL - nice effort though. For a "general idea" you did fine.
Now get a little more "specific" and I think you'll be safe.......

Thanks for the tips fellas, I only stuck my self with the wire once.

I WAS aware of the clockwise wrap... I'll redo that.

Thank GOD all the bolts are already drilled.

NO! i tried that, it wont pass. play musical bolts until the holes face each other. the SW them together. or drill another set of holes. i tried the first and it worked for me. also put another hole in the axle so it doesnt matter how it threads in.

You gotta line the holes up? won't that over torque em?

Lining the holes up would certainly help.

no, torque correctly, just wrap the tension clockwise.

Safety wired done properly will save your life. Hit someone up at the track they'll help yah out.

But SVRACER01's got the right idea.

they dont like that. i did the old clockwise roation and they said "try again" their theory was if the SW reaches the other side of the bolt then what will keep it from loosening up? i understand it. so i just did as i pictured. dont over tighten just redrill or swap some bolts around until you get them close. the wire shouldnt reach the other side of the bolt.

Correct, make all the bolts pull tight.

Oxx, i saw yours when they rejected, they were wrapped all the way around the bolt and could be pulled off the bolt easily and would have been useless.

It's all water under the bridge, and we do enter the next round-robin. Am I wrong?

you see nothing! his is like mine was (does that make sense?) just fix it! get them as close as you can. if you are going more than a 1/4 of the way around then it s too far. hows that?
