Looks like my bike will be ready but i need some help on Friday night at Jay's place installing my frame sliders. I'm not very good with drilling through bodywork etc and I'm sure I will screw it up. Anyone good at that stuff? Gordon??? :-)
Also, anyone have a 2" (I think) drill for drilling through the side panels.

I have a set of about a dozen hole cutters. There's likely one that is about the size you need. They are for wood, and have a pretty aggressive tooth, but if we are careful they should work OK. We can cover the hole area with masking tape or duct tape first...that should keep scratches and splinters to a minimum. I don't have much experience cutting bodywork, so don't count on me to be the expert. If we screw up...well...we won't be able to see it from my house.Originally posted by Degsy

Now...about timing...what time do you expect to be at Jays? I haven't posted my plans for the weekend yet because I am still negotiating them. Turns out that there is an impromptu family reunion at my camp this weekend for some of the inlaw folks. Some visitors from Washington, etc. Kristin's handling most of it, but I'm gonna have to make an apperance there at some point this weekend. Sounds like there will be adequate crew at the track Saturday, and fewer on Sunday, so I may do the family thing Friday night and Saturday morning/afternoon so I can make it to the track all day Sunday and maybe even late Saturday.
So...depending on what time you will be there Friday, I can help ya or at least I can drop off the tools and I am sure you can handle it yourself. I am thinking of heading north Friday night (leaving 8 or 9ish), do the meet&greet, and head back Saturday afternoon for the track.
back the bolt out of the frame, just barely hitting the plastic. Stick some playdough on the inside of the fairing where the bolt is hitting, push the fairing against the bolt to leave an indent in the playdough. take the fairing off and make a pilot hole from the inside. Then make your finish hole from the outside. Tape the outside with masking tape before you drill, It will help leave a nice edge. You might want to tape the inside also, seeing that it's fiberglass.
I did it this way on my streetbike. I had to drill slow or the plastic would start to melt. You probably can drill fast through the fiberglass though?
i think i have an hole-saw bit somewhere. I believe it's like 2 1/4" or sumthin.
peace
OK, thanks Gordo. I have just spoken to Mike and he will bring all his drill bits so no need for you to bring those, thanks anyway. Mike and I will try to fit the sliders at the track Friday night. I will be arriving by 8pm at the track if all goes to plan.

Awesome, thanks for the tips Gary.
Now, any tips on how I do 1:17's besides getting a 140hp motor??

All set Gordon, I switched them already. Had a hell of a time drilling a hole in the pin that holds the pad in, but its done. Just remind me to bed my new pads in.Originally posted by scootertrash
