Well folks, Jay and I are back at chez Stonner. I getting ready for a hot shower after i finish getting myself in a relaxed mood.
We arrived this morning at 0700 to be greeted by SNOW!! WTF? 35 degrees and snowing. I guess I'm on rain tires today!
My first race, heavyweight supersport. I was gridded 13th in this race. I made a fairly good start, hitting turn 1 about 10th place. Coming into turn 2 I took a very wide line and managed to get by another 4 guys to get into 6th. Concentrated on keeping the bike upright for the rest of the race as the tires would let go at the slightest hint of power (still snowing lightly). Came home 6th for 7 championship points which is very cool.
The bike was performing much better than last race weekend after Mark did his magic on the carbs (thanks tlrman). My best lap in the first race was a 1:47.
2nd race was middleweight supersport. This race I got a bad start behind a slow guy and after gridding about 17th I was still back in 13th going into turn 1. I slowly picked my way past some of the field, and there were 3 fallers in front of me, so I was in 9th by the 4th lap. I had a guy on an R6 in front of me and he was pulling away on the straights then parking the bitch in the corners. I finally managed to get by him in turn 2, then he came screaming past me on the inside coming up to turn 3 and slammed on his brakes after cutting in front of me. the back end of my bike lifted into the air with the braking force and then slid about 2 feet to the left. I managed to keep it up and not lose any more places. So I was back in 9th place. I stayed right on his tail through the turns, with him moving ahead of me in the straights. Coming into turn 3 on the next lap, he went down under braking and the bike slid for about 300 yards into the tires. He slid through the mud and i was in 8th again. that was the last lap and that is how I finished. I think that was worth 10 points. Best lap was a 1:43, 4 seconds better than the last race.
3rd race and final race of the day for me. middleweight superbike. On the hot pit lane before the race this guy in front of me was laughing and joking with his friend next to him and doing stupid things like blocking his exhaust pipe with his hand, hitting the kill switch on his friend's bike and making jokes. I was gridded way back on the 8th row on the far right, in 18th place. I got a dreadful start after a guy in front held me up for what seemed like hours. I had no chance to go around him as the wall was there. I must have been in about 21st place going into turn 1. I moved through a few places in the first lap. As I entered turn 12 I saw a bike down in front of me. You guessed it, it was the clown from the hot pit.
I made up a few more places but i never could catch up with the fast guys as I was held up by slower riders. My lap times were the fastest of the day with a best of 1:39, but there was no hope of a good finish after the start got screwed up. I finished 10th for 5 championship points.
All in all a good day's racing with points from all 3 races.
Thanks again to Jay for hanging around through the snow and rain and freezing cold to pit crew for me.
1 race tomorrow in the sunshine, more then.

Degsy sounds like you had a pretty good day all things considered , you did well in the points and nothing wrong with your track time considering the shitty weather.. Good luck tomorrow..
Great job degs, wish I could have been there to see it. Keep up the good work!!
