I am lengthening the bolts for the dogbones on my shock for a wheel upgrade I am doing.... I'd sure like it to keep going down the track without busting a bolt. Any suggestions on the minimum METRIC grade of bolt I should use? If you are quoting standard number please be specific that it is not a metric number. I'm guessing it would be 10.9 but I am unsure.
Can one of you guys school a squid like me on this?
Yeah I would say 10.9 as they are readily available and super strong. The stronger the better even if it's not needed IMO. Might be able to get away with something lesser like 9.8 or 8.8, but I like to overdo things to avoid problems.
At least 8.8. With the low cost and availability of higher grade I would go even high.
"When there's a gap you either commit yourself as a professional racing driver that is designed to win races or you come second or you come third or come fifth, and I'm not designed to come third, fourth, or fifth. I race to win, and if you no longer go for a gap that exists, you're no longer a racing driver."

In terms of standard grades..
grade 2= 8.8
grade 5= 10.9
grade 8~ 12.9
so if you can find 12.9, the extra two or three dollars can't hurt.
It's marked in raised numbers. Very simple.
Most shock bolts are fastened with locknuts IIRC.
