I still plan to hang out at the track and support the racers regardless of the team name change. I allways thought of it as going up and supporting a bunch of friends from here.Originally posted by gixxer6
YUP, That's it! Ed, you'll be there right?
All of you will still be tere, right? We don't want any of this to effect all of our great supporters from coming up to help and have a great time with us and their families.

Not to start any crap but the letters "NESR" can be used by anyone that wants to use it in that form.Originally posted by Stoneman
'NESR' and 'New England Streetriders' are also registered trademarks. No one has permission to use either name or their likenesses![]()

Wow...I remember when I did my name change! I was the biggest asshole for doing it in some peoples eyes, but I have to say it was the best thing!
You guys are assholes for doing this!! I just wanted to say it back!![]()
I see it as a name change and no big deal life goes on.![]()

you fukker - that's what I was gonna suggest but I've been at work without access to a pc for the last few hours. I hate you.Originally posted by highsider
I suggest that the name be changed to an unpronounceable symbol, and the team be referred to as "The Team Formerly Known as NESR".![]()

Just to set the record straight. It looks very much like I jumped ship and then persuaded stoneman to ditch the use of the name for the race team. That is simply NOT the case.
I have put in hundreds of hours of effort for NESR and the race team.
I put together the VIR trackday.
I put together the dyno day last year.
I had hats and t-shirts made and sold them all for pretty much zero profit (I made about $200 on the whole deal which went towards the big tent).
I organised and collected funds towards the pit board, putting $50 in myself towards it.
I paid ricerocket the small amount he wanted for materials ($50) to make the power strip.
I organised the raising of NESR funds to send DVD's to troops in Iraq.
I paid $17 a month for 2 1/2 years to pay for the NESR racing website.
I was never offered a penny by any other team member towards that costs and I never asked.
I have spent hours and hours helping new racers get better on the track.
I spent a whole Sunday switching a frame out for Gary in 2003 when he crashed his bike and went on to get ROTY for the NESR team.
I have spent numerous evenings up at the track discussing racing lines and technique with new racers, as well as many evenings working on people's bikes.
Actually, many people on the NESR race team have been notably absent from any of the fundraising that went on for race team equipment, not that that really matters, but it is worth pointing out.
Also, Gordon and Jankster (and others) put in an enormous amount of time and effort helping the race team. I remember Gary and myself giving each of them a small gift at the end of each year as a thank-you. Other members of the team did also, yet other members did not. Again, this is not to criticise anyone, but just to point out how much goes on and how much gets forgotten in a large team.
The fact is that I have grown tired of always having 6 things going on at once, that is why I left NESR Racing. I just want to pit for myself, work on my own bike, spend time with my wife and my friends and not have all the hubbub and traffic that is around the NESR pit.
I was not in NESR racing to make money, Jay does not run NESR to make money. It has always cost money to run this site.
The fact of the matter is that Jay owns NESR as it stands right now. It has become a very large part of many of our lives. Jay has to protect the integrity of the name for his own good. NESR is a labor of love for Jay, me and Dan, not our jobs.
NESR racing started out with Jay, me, an ez-up and our wives standing up at Loudon in the pouring rain. it was fun.
I spoke with Jay this morning and HE decided that if he wasn't involved (he doesn't have the time to devote to it) and I wasn't involved, then it should not happen. I respect his decision and I stand by it. Whether I think it is right or not is neither here nor there.
When you run an entity like NESR, you have a sense of pride in how it presents itself to the general public, and if you don't have a say in that and cannot control that, then you have to take a step back and say "OK, let's not do that this year, let's try again next year maybe".
My thoughts on what should happen to NESR racing? Well, they are twofold.
1. We should run a team with 1 or 2 riders MAXIMUM and make them riders who are totally comitted and have the ability to make a run for a Loudon championship (expert level championship) within two seasons. After that, they move on.
OR
2. Make NESR racing a stepping stone for newbie NESR racer/members to join the team, spend a year and learn the ropes and then move on.
...and hessogood summed it up well, toys, sandbox.

So does this mean that the limited edition first season Nesr Racing hat that I have is worth some money now?
I'll start the bidding at $25
Did I mention that it has a built in ball marker in the top of the hat for when you decide to take up golf because racing is too dangerous.

OK, Degsy I will take you up on your offer. I will put the "NESR" letters on my bike and go after a championship this year. As long as you pay for all my tires and baby sit for me![]()
Go with #2 if anything.......Anyone with a shot at a Expert championship, will cost a lot of $$ and require a lot of maintainance, and serious commitment EVERY WEEKEND.
A steppingstone for new racers is a very noble effort, and more fun for all involved.![]()

That's funny. I was discussing that earlier with Nikon.
The hats aren't worth much yet, but I have a Gary Silva rookie card from 2002 that is worth some serious wedge now.

That's not a bad idea, and one I would be willing to entertain.
I'm sure if you committed to running for one championship this year and ran all the weekends for that race, something could be worked out.
You'd be lucky to get 2 sets of tires and I'm sure if I call your wife and tell her how important it is that you race for the championship she'll be ok with looking after the baby each race weekend. In fact, i'll call her now.

R.I.P. NESR Racing.
It was alot of fun.
I learned a bunch of stuff.
Met a great group of people.
Caught the track virus.
Everybody just keep racing!
See you all around the track!

Thanks to NESR Racing and New England Streetriders! Without the great and seemingly tireless support of everyone on the race-team, I would not have made it onto the racetrack! Thanks again guys and I'll see ya up at Loudon! (if I don't see ya at VIR first)

First of all I would like to send over my deepest thanks to everyone at NESR Racing. It has been great to pit, work and race next to all of you over the years. I must admit that the track will not be the same with out the full *NESR* presence but I can completely understand the decision to move away from and or re-focus the efforts of the founding team members. I still hope to see Degsy and Jay at the track this up coming season.
I guess this is the time to say Double Apex Racing is the registered buisness and name sake soley owned by Scott Major.
As always Double Apex Racing will be at the track to offer what ever support we can to those of the newly named team. Remember guys... A true team goes much deeper than just it's name.

Karloff? Sidekick? FUCK YOU!! That cocksucker does not deserve to smell my shit!
I was only at the track once with Mike (Half Squid) and felt as though I was at the pinnacle of NESR and mixing with the elite. I was humbled buy the talent I saw both at the NESR pit and on the track. I’m glad I had the opportunity to mix even a little with such a great bunch of people.
