Stolen R6 @ NHIS this past weekeend

Guys, just a reminder... this bike was stolen from the North Garage's last saturday night.

    Rebellious Photos :: LRRS 09/01/2007 :: 090107LRRS332small

Keep an eye out for a parted R6. This bike has some pretty trick stuff on it, including superbike motor, Superbike Wheels (marvic I think) trick brembo monoblock calipers etc....

It sucks for the owner of the bike for sure.. I have been racing with LRRS A LONG time and this is the first race bike I have heard of getting stolen at the track. I have heard of a few YSR's and pitbikes over the years...but this means we have a thief or a group of thieves who want ruin the family atmosphere of LRRS.

Keep an eye out for the bike on the internet and locally... and at the track keep an eye out for your neighbors stuff as well.

    Scott

This is beyond f-ed up... Makes me absolutely sick that something like this should happen up at the track.

There should be an announcement from the LRRS officials... all parties found guilty of being involved in the theft of a bike will have ALL of their public information released to the LRRS community.... phone numbers, addresses, emails, names of family members etc.

There's alot of crazy mo-fo's at the track, a little mob justice or even the threat of it could be just what the Doctor ordered to sway anything like this from happening again.

I agree 100% . Thing is ... there are more and more poeple coming to the track to watch or race for the first time. Very hard to control the new people coming in and lets face it.. there is some riff raff .. always has --- always will be.

That being said.... the thing that does strike me odd and distrubs me is this. IF it were a semi new to LRRS person who stole this bike... why this bike? Sure it had some superbike parts on it but it didnt really stand out from anyother R6. Its been in the garage next to me and I hardly noticed it different than a Supersport R6. Seems to me, if a guy just came up to watch the races and was gonna grab a bike late at night, he would grab a top expert bike that won races or whatever. NOT a three digit amatuer bike.

Someone had their eye on this bike and knew it had some good parts on it so that leads me to believe it *might* be someone who has been around the track for awhile.

Sucks. Watch your stuff, put it away or lock it up. I know I will be for now on.

i agree. maybe not stolen? maybe insurance? just a thought. someone would def. need the inside scoop on that bike to grab it. why not a Wood a bike? i think if were "shopping" i would grab the one with #1 on it. on the other hand... maybe they just got lucky. they may have thought it was "just an R6" not know how "cool" it really was. it may have just been an easy grab. i think its odd that no one noticed a bike being removed and even if it happened at 3am they still have to go through the front gate and someone leaving at that time would be weird enough even if the bike was in a trailer. IDK...it all seems odd...very controversial to me. somethings up.

This was my first time up at LRRS and it was nice to be able to get there and leave all my gear and tank bag and such and ride/walk around, now i think I may bring some sort of cable lock, If someones got the balls to steal a bike then I'm sure they won't mind taking gear and such..

im new to the track scene and loved how it seems almost like a family atmosphere and everyone leaves their stuff out.. You can grab anything you want, tire warmers are a couple hundred bucks, leathers hanging everywhere, a lot of bikes have keys in em.. there are so many bikes closer to the outside of the track that if a bike got stolen from inside a garage it really has to be someone that knows the bike or an insurance job in my opinion. This wasnt a crime of opportunity if its in a garage in the paddock.

I was working corner 3 when i heard it come over the track radio and then the PA. First thing I did was scan the stands and spotters tower, my first thought was that it would have had to been a joke.

No overnight security up there this weekend?

Bob didn't notice anyone leaving with it on their trailer? Or maybe it was an enclosed trailer?.....

If so, it would certailnly appear that whoever they are, they came prepared.....

i guess the guy working the gate said that no trailers had left during the night or early morning.....so they had nate go around checking EVERYONE's trailers which i thought was a great idea. But it never showed up...

I can ID him if need be.

This really sucks, I'm sorry to hear it.

Whoever stole it most likely picked that bike because it didn't stand out. Trying to fence parts off a bike which is well known, such as a winning bike or one belonging to a well-known racer, would be infinitely harder than fencing parts off an "average" R6. A lot less people are likely to recognize identifying characteristics of this bike than one belonging to one of the Wood's.

Most likely, whoever stole it was not necessarily a racer, but someone who got into the pits, scoped the bike out early as one that might be easy to come back for (i.e., being left somewhat unattended). This leads to the idea that the person was likely scoping for a bike to steal this weekend. So if there was indeed someone pacing around the pits this weekend, definitely report the behavior.

Also, any identifying info on easy to sell parts - fairings, pipe, wheels, etc - will be immensely helpful.

My first time to watch you guys @ lrrs. Impressed by the comradery between racing crews, how everyone looks out for each other and welcomes newcomers.

My left foot is beginning to twitch ( I think I see a hawk or is that an sv in my future)

just to squash the thought of an insurance job. I walked the garage area with Ducdave and saw the guy ..... Jim Carey couldn't do this look .... he was beside himself ... told him "sorry" his face didn't change.

I have a buddy with a bike shop in Worcester, ma. I'll ask him to put up a notice with the pic. Anyone have the guys 411

That fucking sucks. Sorry to hear about that.

Remember most crime (according to my Criminal Justice G/F) is based on opportunity and whim. Meaning: Not Planned. They have a certain mind (aka: Scumbucket), and if something is there easy to take, they take it. Chances are this fuckface was just hanging up at the track, noticed bunch of bikes around, saw that one, and just boosted it.

My crew and I pit right at the Tunnel Entrance and I had to get in the practice of locking my racebike, pitbike, and other random stuff up at night. Just because I was nervous (due to her comments) of someone grabbing it quick.

Again, very sorry to hear it. Awful.

The problem is.. grabbing something on a whim doesnt really work when its 1 or 2 am and the item you are boosting is a race motorcyle. you really cant just jump on it and ride it away. you need to have a trailer and something to cover the bike with or an enclosed trailer that is empty. Not sure if someone would take an empty trailer to the track for the hell of it.. and then just happen to fill it with a bike they saw, just because it was tempting.

Too many people camp right on the exit road and are always walking to and from the bathrooms for some random person to steal that bike. the person that did it was comfortable with the surroundings, knew what he was doing and is one of the "crowd" noone else would have the nutt to go into a garage and then tow a bike through everyone.

Maybe it was repo'd? that might explain the surprise... Does anyone know if it was right near a door in the first garage or was it like in the middle of shit in the middle of garages?

While your GF is factually correct, this case seems a bit different. It takes some balls to steal a bike in an environment like that, and equipment (i.e., a truck or trailer complete with necessary ramps and tie downs) to get it out of the track.

In other words, this guy knew what he was doing, and has probably done it before.

Its excellent that some details have been added. If the thief is going to be caught, thats how it will happen - the dipshit will make someone a smoking deal on a set of Marvic wheels or a superbike motor.

Just another thought for the bike owner - I supervise criminals all day long, and one thing has always remained true. There is no honor amongst theives. Offer up a no-questions reward for the recovery of the bike and a seperate reward for arrest of the thief. I guarantee the thief has a friend or two who would rat him out for enough cash to get high/drunk for a night.

You guys missed my point, which I probably didn't do a very good job of highlighting.

It was more to the point of Scott's comment about "Why this random Amateur guys bike as opposed to some really nice R6 wicked tricked out"

My point was: It could have been ANY bike in the paddock. The guy was just looking for a bike to boost and took the XYZ bike that was handy.
