Chris Watts (AKA Stupidhawk) just arrived in DAYTONA FL and just found out that a strap holding the bike slid and pressed the starter button the entire way from Massachusetts to Florida. Aprox 1700 miles. Obviously you can do the math. Starter button pressed for a long time = cooked starter. He will not be practicing today and will be looking to tear the bike apart to see if he can do anything about it. I am trying to help out and reach out to anyone in that area that may have a starter that works to help out a fellow HAWK that will be racing in DAYTONA in the Race of Champions this week. Chris is the 2007 Amateur Ultralight Superbike Champion (over achiever). He is doing what I should have done last year. Please help. PM me if you can help. I will provide his cell for contact.
If nothing comes into fruition he will end up bump starting the bike.
Thanks

I just talked to Chris. He got the starter out and tore it apart (the brushes and associated bits). It was heavily glazed over. He took some sandpaper and with a little elbow grease he was able to get it working, for now. Fingers are crossed that he will be able to make it thru this weekend. Right now he is helping Norman change his sprockets for practice in 20min. Thanks all. He will be looking for a starter this winter.

He could always just bump start it? I'm sure there are people there with total loss systems that have devices for it too.
It's all water under the bridge, and we do enter the next round-robin. Am I wrong?
Sounds like it is time for Chris to loose the starter and go total loss anyway.
Just think... less weight.![]()

Bump starting a bike sucks. My battery shit the bed on me the last race weekend I went to. Every time I was up to race practice etc. I had to take my bike for a run.
SUCKED MY ASS let me tell you.
Time to buddy up with someone with a set of rollers. And by buddy up I mean spoon.
