So I often hear the complaints how boring MotoGP is, and how exciting Supercross is (mind you I havent watched much SX so maybe Im way off), but it doesnt seem like results are all that different. While SX is usually more visually exciting with bar banging, the results are similar.
Everyone bitches that MotoGP has one run away winner, and a good battle for 2-4 or something, but watching SX Phoenix, that seemed to be the case too. I mean, in all the heats, the closest finish was 1.5 seconds, and the biggest gap was over 8. So really, whats the difference?
Watch more SX, you'll get it. I love GP, but to just watch a race SX is going to be 99x better most of the time. The track changes, small get offs happen, a missed rhythm section; the leaders gap can change pretty quick in SX.

I've said the same thing Richie for years. Just ppl go 'oo aah' over jumps.
Then again if you look at Worldwide viewership and attendance numbers it isn't even close. MotoGP is ahead.
I like both. For me Moto GP is like F1. I like seeing the technology go around. There isnt a lot of personality within the racers. With the loss of Simoncelli and Rossi and Colin getting closer to the end of their careers the lineup will be a bunch of robots.
SX to me is more down to earth racing. Although the factory guys are winning I still like to think with some talent the privateer riders can still get a good result. They arent priced out of the racing yet. Plus in most cases if a rider crashes they can pick up the bike and continue on.
Lol, not what I was expecting from the title of this thread for some reason...
But... MotoGP is better. Just sayin'
If you ain't first......you're last!
More people can relate to mx,sx. Plenty of people have ridden dirtbikes at least once or twice in their lives. Sure there are plenty of people road racing but the average viewer has never ridden a street bike let alone race one. Basically same with nascrap, everyone has driven their car fast at some point. Just cause they throw some camry headlight stickers and people think their driven the same whip as gordon, Stewart whoever
Going off Alex a bit, Casual viewers don't notice stoner backing it in or smoking the rear coming out the corner. We notice the suspension working all the little stuff casual viewers don't catch. In mx screws up most likely he gets punted off. In spectacler fashion most times ala chad reed, bubba Stewart
Moto GP all day long.
This 2012 season should be interesting with all the newcomers to the grid-

I really enjoy sx. I think I enjoy it more than Moto gp. With all the tech in Moto gp and the fact that the race tracks are the same year after year unless something unusual happens its exciting for a few laps, then boring, then exciting, then over. Moto 2 is better than gp.
No sx track is ever the same as it was the year before. That means everyone out there has the same experience on that particular track. I saw Stewart come from a few seconds back in the phoenix heat race and double block pass for the lead. In the final villapoto crashed on the 1st lap and was last. He finished 3rd I think of 20. That's fun to watch.
I agree with kitt, you won't see 5 guys that have a chance at the title at the end in gp.
When I start my KTM in the morning, rules are broken. Its inevitable...

im anxiously seeing how these CRT and newcomers do on the grid. im not a fan of the CRT idea (takes away from the developmental aspect of the factories) but a full grid should be something to lust over.
oh by a mile. i dislike nascar so much but hey talledega nights was hilarious
FWIW I go to 4-6 SX races a year and find watching a run-away victory just as boring as watching a run-away victory in MotoGP (attended 4 GP's last year).
I like watching battles, especially battles for the lead/podium. Higher the stakes higher the excitement obviously. Battle for 20th isn't all that awesome unless you know the guy in 20th (personal stake)
To the point that others are making, watching all the various battles throughout the field makes watching supercross live fun. Watching the broadcast is sometimes frustrating because you hear the crowd cheering and you know there was something going on that the tv wasn't showing. Because of that the live supercross is definitely more exciting than live motogp. Either one when it is a runaway can be very boring on tv.
Aw c'mon. motogp guys go way faster....
I really want to like motogp, and I like the old days of the battles but its become a snorefest. WSBK is way better.
Or even moto2....for sure. Thats more like high speed SX. I like SX but until they put a loop or make it a figure 8 where the track crosses itself, only lap one is hairy.
Still. motogp is faster.
