I'd just like to point out, up till now he's been on a PTwins legal EX. I dunno if maybe they vibrate more than a GS or what, but you certainly don't get much for audio cues if there are any other bikes around. I've overreved the GS down the front straight not realizing it was fully wound up in traffic, what little feel you get through the frame/bars is pretty thin...
I've got my speedo taped over, it'll likely disappear this winter. If I can rig a 'shift stupid' light I'll likely toss the tach as well.
The motard, you won't have any problems with, you can feel it, hear it, hell you can almost taste when they want you to go up a gear. Feedback a plenty.
My tach breaking last year was the best thing to happen. At first I found myself short shifting, but after feeling it out I started to find the power more. Not having one will force you to learn and its not such a bad thing.
Supa Motarded! If you see me backin it in, keep watching...Im about to crash

Maybe Ill just hafta get to the dragway (or a parking lot) to practice some starts, thats what Im most concerned with. The one time I didnt use my tach I wheelied the EX (yes its possible) and got a shit start. Other than that, the shifting Im sure will be fine with some time
You are prob going to wheel the RMZ a few times no matter what. These dirt bikes pull the front with not much effort![]()

RMZ is geared so tall (4-speed) that it's actually really hard to loft the front on starts. Least in my experience.
Richie at the track one day I'll just show you where I hold my throttle open on the start. You give it a good amount thou and just use the clutch to modulate the "GO" part. I was getting pretty awful starts on the RMZ at first (like would be dead last going into the turn) but I've been getting better lately. I was basically trying to baby it too much and bogging out.
