I have been keeping this under my hat for a few days now, but the info is now public so I will pass it along. I am in contact with Mike about various things regarding NESR racing and the new track.
Degs
Here's the info as I received it.
I can now give out more info on the new race track coming to New
England. The track will be located in.. drum roll please. Tamworth,
New Hampshire. It is about one mile from the intersection of Routes 16
and 25. To get there, take 95 North, then jump onto the Spaulding
Turnpike (Route 16). If any of you are familiar with the old Mt.
Whittier ski area it is close by.
I hope to have a simple website up in a couple of weeks with pictures
and as construction proceeds, updates to the construction. The website
will also have further details on the track but in the interim, here's
some of the data that you will be able to find on the website. A little
on the sales pitch side, but you'll get the idea.
A little about the Corse Moto:
Our facility is based on the theory that we are a Motorsports Country
Club. We are not interested in having thousands of paying spectators.
We are very concerned with our motorsports participant's experience. We
want you to come back again and again.
For example, our road racing circuit has little in the way of spectator
seating areas. Since we don't have to have many spectators close to the
track, we have been able to design the circuit so that there aren't hard
barriers in high speed impact zones like other facilities.
Our facility will contain a 3.3 mile road racing circuit. The circuit
can be segmented into two separate tracks, one 1.8 miles and the other
1.5 miles. This way, we will be able to offer you different flavor
circuits. This will also allow us to offer you more track time as we
can run the two circuits simultaneously.
This track will be exciting. With over 300 feet of elevation change,
the circuit has challenging technical areas as well as significant
straights where motorcycle power can be pushed to its limits. Uphill
and downhill areas will test chassis and suspension setup as well as
rider capabilities.
You will have the use of a beautiful club house and hospitality center.
This will be a large comfortable building with separate areas where you
can receive instruction in a well lit airy classroom, have team meetings
or just bench race. Not a small room where a few people can be crammed
together for short periods of time.
We will have a locker, shower and changing area. Porta-potties will not
be necessary. Good food will be available as well, not your ordinary
burgers and fries racetrack food. You are to be treated as a country
club member and you should expect to be treated as such.
There will be a large paddock area. The garages will be well lit and
will be available for rent for the season and on a fist come first serve
basis, for an event. Fuel, parts and race supplies will be available on
site as well.
There will be at least one resident race school. There you will be able
to receive instruction so you can use the facility, or just receive
instruction to help lower your lap times. All participants will be
required to have a recognized motorcycle road racing license or at least
have taken instruction at the track with a track instructor.
This brings us to another point. Knowing your overall lap time is good,
but knowing your segment times are much better. The track will utilize a
state of the art system that will allow you to receive not just your
stand alone lap time, but a breakout of segment times. That way you
will know where you are fast and where you are slow. You will then be
free to concentrate on your problem areas (by yourself or with an
instructor) instead of just guessing where you or your machine needs
work.
For those of you who are interested in competition tuning, we will have
a motorcycle dynamometer available with people who are knowledgeable and
helpful.
Track time will be available in many forms. Since the track is capable
of being segregated into two separate circuits, we will be able to offer
two track day events per day. This will provide you with better access
to the track at key times.
We look forward to seeing you at our new facility for our planned
opening in April, 2004!
Most of you have probably already seen the jpegs of the circuit, but if
you have not feel free to email me. In addition, I would be pleased to
answer any questions that I can. The email here is kimike@adelphia.net.

Mike Botan

These guys run a good show. They tried to build their facility in the next town over from me(Alstead). But the stupid red necks that live there turned down their zoning because they didn't listen to what was going to be built, and just assumed that the Winston Cup was going to come in. Should be an awesome facility. Can't wait to ride it

How far along is this?? Have they gotten permits.. Have they decided on a fee structure and where do we sign up??

Gerard (and others). Jay and I will be meeting with a representative of the track very soon to discuss these things. Please bear with us while this is happening. The information was released a bit earlier than they really wanted to release it. As soon as I have any more info I will relay it here.
I am told that permits are secured and construction is in progress.

There was an article about this in my local paper recently. Here is the condensed version:
http://www4.fosters.com/News2003/Apr...eg_bu0410a.asp
It's still pretty early in the planning stages. I don't think they have town approval yet, but the article suggested that the town was not particularly against it, and the site was appropriate for the use.
I'm a little curious about the business plan for this venture. It is a proposed multi-million dollar facility (construction costs) plus the ongoing maintenance and support will likely be expensive. If they do not plan to have much of a spectator area, the cost to join "the club" will likely be quite pricey. Sounds like it will be geared for the posh crowd with vintage race cars and able to affort the exclusivity.
I hope it works out...it would be great to have another nice track so close. (bikes, Cobras, GT-40s...![]()
)
That'd been great!!!
Hope hope hope...

Well this is very cool fkn news, I must say! I love the 2 trackday rentals per day. I just hope the trackday fees aren't more expensive than NHIS. I can't believe what people are paying for trackdays down south (much less expensive), and $200 is just about my limit.
A little over a year ago, I heard of something like this being built in the Hartford, CT area. I never heard if the plans got off the ground, but that would also be cool.

EXACTLY the shot in the arm New England needs. Man it is happening soon too. I will absolutely become a member if it is a club based org. Screw NHIS. When is the last time they did work on the road course. How 'bout that bowl.......I've seen better pavement in the big dig. Very exciting news Degs, thanks for sharing. I'm sure you'll rep. the groups interests well. 3.3 miles.....WHOA!

Hey, Degsy, a thought just occurred to me... why the secrecy? Wouldn't it make good financial sense to gauge the reaction of potential customers?

Well, think of this track as Goodwood in England. Privately owned, a playground for the Porsche/Ferrarri set. Motorcycles will be a very small part of this setup, very small. The course will be run on a MEMBERSHIP basis. Remember, this course will have condominiums, hotel rooms etc onsite. It really is nothing like a standard race track. I believe the demographics of the average user of this track will not be the same as Loudon, more like a place for the jet set to fly in and spend a few days on the track with their million dollar vintage racer.Originally posted by SilverSurfer

Ok everyone...time to start a collection to pay for the onsite NESR condo. I figure we can buy one on the first floor, convert it into a big garage, and have a nice indoor place to work on the bikes during the off season...plus a place to hang out between races.![]()
Maybe Gary can help furnish it. Oh, that's right...Gary doesn't have any furniture...
