Used transponder question

I searched and couldn't find anything.

I was posting about leads for a used transponder on my local forum, and a guy who races car said something about MYLAPS won't allow used transponders to be re-registered under certain situation; I believe he is talking about re-register for a MYLAPS account. Just wondering if anyone had heard something like that.

For LRRS, correct me if I am wrong, I don't believe you have to do something like that as all our times are under our NHMS account. All they need is to link our race number with the transponder number we are using, right?

From what I've heard mylaps has gotten better about dealing with used transponders now. I believe there is a small fee and some paperwork required.

That's what I found on their site. Just want to confirm a used transponder can be used without re-register with LRRS, otherwise it is another $50 to re-register the thing via MYLAPS...
