I'm thinking about buying a scanner to listen to the corner workers while in the pits and while watching from 6 and other places. I looked back to page 50 and did not see any threads about scanners.
What kind do you use? Which are good? rechargeable? Are there features I should look for? I don't what to spend a whole lot but don't what a cheapo.
Thanks for any input.
Yup, same one I got this year through Amazon. Amazon.com: Uniden BC-95XLT NASCAR Bearcat 200-Channel Portable Scanner: Electronics It's $50+ dollars cheaper there. They are pretty quiet without some sort of external speaker system.

external speakers? It's not loud enough to just leave in the tool box or next to you on the benches? I don't really what to lug around a scanner and wires and speakers...or have to hold it up to my ear. Is that what you mean?

I know how you can borrow a radio and even get paid for it.
