No apparently about it, everything about my bike, equipment, person, and hauler looks sketchy. Just my undersuit alone is enough to warrant a search. Thank the Lord I never do anything wrong!
Thank goodness there's no VIN on leathers and warmers, cause there's this guy that had a bunch of stuff in his trunk and I met him at a gas station. Also bought a bike from another guy at a gas station off the highway in another state, had it stuffed in his SUV, he needed cash, no title. Seemed legit. I think he's on here occasionally.

Do you know how many people would not be able to race?Originally Posted by R7

I see both sides of this...
Didn't you get pulled over one morning many years ago with three track bikes in the truck at 3am on the way to the track Degs?

I did. Cops checked every vin. 4 or 5 bikes. All clean of course. I wouldnt use a stolen frame and i wouldnt knowingly use a stolen engine, bit its impossible to know with an engine.Originally Posted by Jaynnus

I have rebuilt engines for people who have bought used cases on ebay. I have no way of knowing if they are legit and then what is possibly stolen? the upper case? Its even tough for a cop to find put if an engine is stolen.
Huge time consumption for race programs with multiple frames and engines in tote.....borderline unrealistic, even.
Let's imagine 200 racers showing up and everyone has to unpack a spare engine.
I look at my 6×10 and where the spare mill would be packed with everything else and think to myself "no fkn way!" Bike, tool box, generator, tires....all coming out.

Devils advocate here. How about they VIN and engine number check every car, truck and RV coming into a track for a NASCAR race?
Im not arguing either way here, and i have no horse in the race, but its an interesting discussion.
Yes, because what we're proposing is MANDATORY checks for EVERY SINGLE BIKE AND ENGINE you have in your posession, have ever owned, touched or laid your eyes on.
You fukin guys... seriously. Just love to argue, don't you?
Randomly check VIN's at tech inspection. Write em down... Send to cops. "Hey, any of these reported as stolen?"
I wouldn't give two shits if they did something like that.

Pete. Seriously. This is a discussion. This IS a discussion forum, no?Originally Posted by OreoGaborio
Yes... this IS a discussion... but you and bergs love turning discussions into arguments.
People having discussions don't have to say things like "not trying to start an argument".... because they don't come off as argumentative in the first place.

Glad I didn't start anything with "not trying to start an argument" then.
So, random check, I still have to empty my trailer in order to get to my spare engine as well as the bike that also has an engine.
It is unreasonable to expect anyone to spend an hour unloading, getting numbers then loading back up only to unload again in the paddock.....and all before Tech closes.
they have "impounded" bikes at NHMS during race events after major crashes. One of them this past weekend. I also remember one last year. in both cases the rider was transported to the hospital. If I remember correctly last year they said it had something to do with insurance or some shit. it was weird. maybe that's where the idea of them taking bikes came from. they didn't keep them as far as I know.

Oh Pete with your edits. I love how if anyone disagrees with you or has a differing viewpoint than yours, you call it arguing.
Pete, sometimes there are people in life that won't agree with everything you have to say. Please learn to accept that.
No, you just choose to ignore half of what's actually said and insert a bunch of information that you came up with into people's posts that you don't agree with so you can insert your self-righteous attitude into a discussion that you really don't have much business being in in the first place... that's FAR worse.
I agree... that's why I never said or even implied that. You came up with that on your own.
BTW, Tech inspection doesn't close at Loudon until racing is over (but you'd know that if you still raced there or bothered to open up the rulebook).
My edits don't change a single thing about the intent of what I'm tryig to say. They're there to to clarify and simplify what I'm trying to get across since you love doing just what I said above.
And there's a big difference with people disagreeing with what I'm ACTUALLY saying and people making up their OWN shit just so they can disagree with it.

So Pete, you're now the one who decides which people belong in a discussion yet I'm self-righteous?
I'm not sure I'm able to keep up with all this.
BTW, you do realize this thread wasn't asking about Loudon checking VINs and such, right? Might wanna check your accusations right about now because tech does close at other tracks.
