From the NEAR list...
I was a frequent snowmobiler there a few years back and that is a
big money business. Sleds, trucks and trailers were constantly
stolen. Sleds went to indian reservation and I think parted out.
My friends 04 diesel chevy was taken in 05. Police told him the
crooks disable the on-star and probably put the truck on a container
in Montreal for another country. Diesel p-u's were a hot ticket to
get stolen. He never saw his truck, 4 place enclosed trailer or two
sleds again. I stopped going to Montreal after that. Hope he gets
his stuff back!

All this talk about stuff stolen in Montreal has me questioning whether or not I want to do any TD's up there. Maybe I still will would just have to sleep in the truck and borrow someone's 12 gauge.

I have a friend who had his Harley stolen from an underground Hotel Garage in Montreal...
I for one will never ride a bike there....

Hotels in Montreal are SKETCHY. I wouldn't be surprised if the employees were in on the theft. I stayed at a Best Western in Montreal. When we were checking in, the guy at the desk asked for a credit card for any incidental charges. I handed it to him. He then said "Oh, there's something sticky on the counter and went out back for a minute, coming back with paper towel and Windex. He wiped the counter down, imprinted the card and I thought nothing of it.
Well... 3 days after we got back, I checked our bank account and there were 3 $1500 charges pending. When I called the bank, they said they were all from a merchant in Montreal, QC. The only time we used the card was at the hotel, so I suspect when he went out back to get something to 'wipe the counter' he swiped our card number. Luckily, we were able to shut down the bank account and cancel the card, but I definitely learned my lesson.

I am a snowmobile dealer as well.
This is a very common occurance. I have at least 1 customer per season that has their entire rig stolen. Last year, one of my guys lost a 2007 F-350 Super Crew, Power Stroke, a 23' Thule aluminum trailer, and 3 Yamaha ApexGT's...

My cousin was up snowmobiling this past winter. They stole his brand new H2 and attempted to steal his friends new F-250 diesel with a trailer and 2 sleds on it. Luckily he new how bad it was up there and he had taken out the ignition relay as well as the fuel pump fuse. The thieves actually brought their own relay and installed into the truck, but they didn't realize that he pulled fuses too. The kicker is that he then went to the police station and asked where he could park the truck since the lock and ignition were both popped and the cop said " Well you could park it in the back of the station but I can't guarantee that it'll be there in the morning"!

Interesting read. 2% recovery rate in Montreal, compared to 67% in New England. Pretty shitty.

I was up there this past winter. My friend was the only truck in a lit parking lot yet someone smashed into the bed of it doing $2000 in damage and broke into it stealing just his ipod, which was not even visible from the outside. Did not steal his dvd player however but went through everything in his glove box. Just punched the lock right out. BASTARDS!
One of my buddies went to see F1 there a few years back and his 911 was stolen during the race. When he reported it the police told him 4 or 5 other 911's had been taken as well and infered that it most likely "ship had already sailed" with his car and the others. It was never recovered. On the bright side, no one took his X5 tow vehicle this year.
I have also been part of a ton of driving school at Tremblant both before and after it's reconstruction and I don't think the BMW CCA has had anyone lose a car in recent memory and some of the rigs are fairly insane.

Lots of sleds get stollen up there. Many stories of people stopping for a drink after the ride, come out 15 mins later and the sled is gone. What they like to do is burry them in snowbanks. you come out, leave, they come back later and finish the job.
sketchy is an understatement.
This is why I stick to bars and strip clubs when in Montreal. At least then, all they're stealing is my money!![]()

hmm, I went up there for a bicycle comp a few years ago and stayed at hotel in Montreal...my truck was too big for their underground parking so they had me park infront of a dumpster in little driveway right near the main road. I was sketched out bad but it was there in the morning...maybe because it was zero degrees out that night in the middle of winter.
ya honestly I love the strippers there..so many of them are hot as hell
In college I interned for Enterprise Rent-A-Car
We had a corporate client that rented and had
meetings in Montreal. They rented 3 large suv's,
Tahoe's and Expedition i think......all three were
stolen and never to be found again.
Really fucked up. Shit happens all the time.
Ricky Jullian and Bubbles would never steal a truck , 911 or snowmobiles... they stick to grills and shopping carts. Theft under a thousand.. you cant go to jail for that.
